Younger players wont understand what it was like trying to play a game like this before computers, we used dice and a ping pong table.
This game isn't ment to be finnished in a day or so, it's pure micro management. Take your time, adjust the little things the game offers.
I personally play with the speed on S-L-O-W, watching the days go by. If you want Axis+Allies go play Hearts of Iron 4.
Also, for those of you who want MORE and BETTER!!! Grab the Black Ice Mod.
The game takes a very long time to start. For some reason GOG Galaxy has to start up every time I launch the game. Maybe I have to download the installers and uninstall my current game version in order to prevent GOG Galaxy from starting up every time I launch the game.
When I start the game I can not chose which version of the game I would like to run. There seems to be some kind of graphics error.
Game has already crashed for me. Remember to set the autosave gamefunction.
I do not like to have the GOG Galaxy running in the background on my and GOG Galaxy has just confirmed my suspicions! It is NOT ok to interrupt the game after 3 hours of gameplay because GOG Galaxy would like me to complete this survey!
I am running an old game and I have disabled the aoto check for updates, so GOG Galaxy does not need to run in the background, GOG Galaxy does not need to start up on every gamelaunch.
In conclusion, if GOG Galaxy would like me to review a game I will be glad to do so, but at least let me try the game first. Maybe GOG Galaxy should focus on getting graphics errors corrected or installers to run properly and at the same time respect the privacy of the customer.
Chose Hungary. Joined Axis. Before Auschluss, took Vienna and annexed Austria. Then fought hard for Switzerland. Split Romania, Yugoaslavia and Czechoslovakia with the rest of the Axis. Then the Soviet Union came.
We lost.

HoI 3 will mehr anbieten als der 2. Teil, macht das Spielprinzip dadurch aber nicht besser, im Gegenteil.
Die Armeestrukturierung ist sehr fummelig und wird gerade später bei den großen Nationen zur Geduldsaufgabe.
Die Events sind teils verbuggt, außerdem für meinen Geschmack viel zu wenige.
Man hat auch viel zu wenig Einfluss auf die Wirtschaftleistung. Viel extra Fabricken bauen bringt einen nicht groß weiter, denn die benötigten "seltenen Materialien" (neben Kohle & Stahl) sind auf der Welt sehr ungleich verteilt und im Krieg führt dies schnell zum Engpass.
Der nationale Zusammenhalt nervt. Wenn der Feind ein paar Provinzen strategisch bombadiert und Konvois zerstört, sinkt dieser viel zu schnell. Im Gegenzug hat man nur sehr beschränkte Möglichkeiten diesen wieder zu erhöhen. Da hinkt doch auch die Logik. Warum sollte bei der heimischen Bevölkerung der Zusammenhalt sinken, wenn iwo an der Front eine besetzte Stadt bombadiert wird!?
Auch die Partisanenaktivität nervt. Dies einzubauen ist zwar richtig, aber zu kleinteilig umgesetzt. Die Unterdrückungseinheiten müssten einen größeren Radius haben. Alleine für Frankreich braucht man schon ca 20 einzelne (kleinere) Einheiten zum effektiven Befrieden. Das wird immer unübersichtlicher im Laufe des Krieges.
Ich will Hearts of Iron 3 jetzt auch nicht komplett schlecht reden, es macht immer noch Spaß und hat seine eigenen Reize. Aber es führt mittlerweile ein Nischendasein, welches man nicht mehr braucht.
Denn für Einstiger in die "Hearts of Iron Welt" würde ich klar den 2. Teil wählen, Teil 1 auch noch aber HoI 2 ist klar empfelenswerter. Dazu zählt auch "Darkest Hour", welches ein modifiziertes HoI2 ist.
Wer einen guten Mittelklasse PC besitzt, etwas mehr Geld ausgeben möchte und schonmal HoI Luft geschnuppert hat, sollte klar den 4. Teil spielen. Der greift viele neue Elemente des 3. Teils auf, hat sie aber sehr elegant weiterentwickelt und ist ingesamt der abgerundeste Teil.
