In the old, mysterious, and not-so-abandoned Castle Hammerwatch a group of heroes must fight their way up through the floors to the very top of the castle, where an ancient dragon awaits them. Not only must they kill the beast, but also get back out in one piece!
Bring back your button-mashing hack and slash skills and fight thousands of monsters while avoiding traps, findng secrets and increasing your skills on the way up. Do it yourself or bring three friends for some great fast co-op action! Feel free to launch the editor and build your own adventure with your own graphics, or try out someone else's custom level!

I'm an old arcade Gauntlet fan (I actually have an old arcade machine in my house) and I must say that Hammerwatch captures much of what was good in that old game. Tricky, deadly levels. Many surprising creatures that actually work together on many levels. Smooth controls. This is a great game for anyone who wants to bring back the feel of the old arcade machines.
I really like this game, I especially love the nostalgic graphics, they bring a little warmth to my heart every time I start the game. It is a simple fun game, my brother and I play it coop on a single computer, reminding me of arcade games like gauntlet we used to play together. I enjoy games where you select unique characters and get to upgrade them throughout the game, this game has 4 characters and they are talking about adding 2 more. This game is a solid fun little game, if you like that sort of thing and played games in the 80s and 90s this will be a fun venture.
Played through single player. My usual RPG preference is High HP, High Melee DMG so I usually go with Paladin/Warrior/Berserker kind of classes. In this game I found that Paladin is not the way to go (for me) as I got to the Game Over screen on the fourth level while I completed the game with over 50 extra lives using the rogue on the same difficulty level.
The game does get a bit mindless at times but the secret hunting keeps it fresh. Playing through as a rogue I wanted to see much more mini-bosses... But as a Paladin I believe I'd be happy if I got through the game without ever meeting a single one!
This game has given me many many hours of fun and probably more to come as I attempt another go with a different character class.
So I was looking for something uncomplicated along the lines of a game I remember playing many years ago a fantasy dungeon pixel art hack and slash adventure game and this one came up... and as it was on sale I thought I'd give it ago, its got to be worth 2 bucks after all...
And I wasn't disapointed game play is relatively simple and the controls work reasonably well even using only a keyboard, but the game itself can be quite challenging, all in all a good experience.
The downside.... none that I can see as long as your aspirations are not too high.

This game is a simple Gauntlet-esque clone with bundles of charm. The main mechanics of Gauntlet are all there, with the notable exception of the timer, so you CAN take your time and explore while hoovering up all the goodies and slaying all the baddies. The game shows it's roots in several "bonus" levels that are taken right from Gauntlet itself. Nostalgia with a twist, this is a must for all fans of the hack 'n' slash genre.
