Its my favorite game. When i was little school boy i played this game every day and every night. But now i play this game too more. Its perfect, beatiful game thit good lore. Guys play this game and you can be good gamer

Gothic came out at a very strange time. A year before Morrowind, but after Half-Life. Games don't develop in a vacuum, even though East Europe certainly is an orbiting moon. This game is best described as Ultima Underworld but without oblique references to the Avatar/Good King British. You get tossed into a magic prison pit and it's up to your own guile/wit to break out. Unfortunately, the game is less than cooperative in this manner, owing to design and interface choices that feel alien to the modern gamer. Perhaps owing to a poor localization/translation, a lot of the information that one would think the PC would be able to intuit such as swinging a sword properly is instead left up to the player to firstly discover and then spec into. And in the swing of Barbarian vs Wizard, it would appear that neither really fits, but you are ultimately corralled into one vs the other. It's just a very dated way of doing things, and one that by 2001, had been largely left by the wayside in favor of either having your character naturally know what they would from the start, or having guided levels. Who knows, maybe that pending remake will remove most of the jank from the game. I have my doubts.

Game is not working after installation

Gothic is a game that was probably pretty in-depth for its time, but it does not stand the test of time. The controls require a lot of tweaks to make this a decent game to play, and even then, the controls are still a headache. The game, overall, is pretty nice, with a decent but not-so-exciting story.
