Awesome movement, not much else

This is a game that I honestly don't recommend despite really enjoying my time with it. It DEMANDS perfectionist of you, and I'd be happy to give it if it wasn't for the AFH (Absolute Fucking Horseshit) plastered all over this. I find myself landing on geometry I shouldn't be, sometimes wall runs don't work at all or just give up halfway through, the enemies are unreasonably fast in both movement and attacks, there is no manual save meaning if you get stuck on an arena and decide to come back later, you have to do ALL of the level again - It's all these small things that add up to a game that I both love and can't stand at the same time. It knows it's hard - but unlike something like Dark Souls, this isn't hard but fair. This is hard but AFH.

Just simply AMAZING!

TL;DR : A game with incredibly enjoyable and fluid gameplay with a great platforming system, good level design, and music that completes it perfectly. The game takes place in a cyberpunk world. The story is 6/10 but the rest is pretty much over the top. I would highly recommend it although it is not casual-friendly (it is a little bit hard but not as much as Souls games, and it is very fast paced) Atmosphere is great in general. The cyberpunk theme is well-made, color scheme reflects the deppressive mood of the city. When you don't pay attention to your surroundings, the game drags you in without you knowing how much time has passed. There is no so much to say about music. It is overall pretty satisfying but not something crazy. The music really blends in with the fast pace of the game and makes it feel even faster. To sum up, the music is spot on. Gameplay is beyond amazing. Platforming is so well-made with easy to understand controls. Getting used to it doesn't take much time. When you get how to move around, fast pace of the game with cleverly designed world makes platforming very fluid and enjoyable. Although the games is somewhat hard and you die if you get even a single hit, instant and loading screen-less respawning makes you focus more and when you do a perfect run with smooth movement, it becomes very satisfying. Replayability is very high. There are different game modes like Wave mode where you need to kill waves of enemies to get to the next one where each level is harder than the previous ones. Also, there are couple of collectibles that makes you want to re-do the levels you have completed since some of those collectibles are cosmetics that alter your sword's look. And oh boy there are really cool ones. Also, after completing the campaign, you unluck the hardcore mode which is almost completely different experience to the regular campaign. As a last note, I didn't face with any bugs. The game is easily 9.5/10 for me and I highly recommend it.

Ghostline Bladerunner

Amazing game, very addictive fast-paced gameplay accompanied by perfect techno OST. If you love Hotline Miami, Ronin, Anime, and Bladerunner this game is for you. Loved the hardcore mode but bummed there's no achievement for beating it. Can't wait for Ghostrunner 2!

Close but not great

This game is like Hotline Miami or Katana Zero mixed with Mirror's Edge. The premise is quite simple and addictive - you are a cyber-ninja traversing complex environments with parkour and you got a katana that kills with a single hit, but the at the same time you dies in one hit. You also got some powers that allow you to dodge shots and slow down time. If you die, you can replay the section instantly until you get it right. For me that would have made the perfect game, since I love these kind of titles, however the problem is with the game-play being first person. The game has some tough platforming sections that are also mixed with combat, so the trial and error gameplay can get frustrating. It also does not help that the parkour is not consistent an requires precision, which would be fine for a 2D game, but in FPP sometimes things just don't work, and you are forced to replay a section without knowing if you screwed up, or the the game just failed to register a jump or dash. Games like Titanfall and Mirror's Edge did this better and in Ghostrunner going through those sections is basically THE gameplay, so when stuff doesn't work as expected, it's frustrating as hell. I have replayed one section early in the game for about 50 times, because the jumps and platforms didn't really mix. Add enemies to that later on and it feels like sometimes it's just luck not skill. It also doesn't help enemies shooting at you feels random, sometimes they do with perfect accuracy, sometimes they don't do anything at all. Another issue I think is worth pointing out is that such games work well when you can get to a certain skill level and then just go forward in the zone, but here the short sections between checkpoints just don't allow you to get comfortable with the mechanics. Also the final boss is a machine-fight platforming section, kinda lame choice. All in all, a fun game with great potential, but slightly too unpolished in its mechanic for the difficulty.

Cyber-ninja and his sword

Ghostrunner is a fast paced FPS game sets in a beautiful cyberpunk environment. The gameplay is similar to Hotline Miami: you get hit, you die. At first this can be frustrating, but the game does an excellent job at sending you back in action right away! No loading screen or anything, just press R and you are back at the checkpoint. As i said the game is really fast paced: you are a cyber-ninja doing parkour inside Dharma tower, slaying enemies as you go up. Along the way, you will find different kind of enemies and abilities to overcome them. So don't give up when you die, just try to find another way to complete the stage. The game is built to let you choose different approach to the level you are playing, every run can be different from the last one. (Tip: if you find yourself having trouble, inside the game setting there are options that you can toggle on to help you) Ambient and music: i am a fan of cyberpunk and outrun music, so i appreciated the soundtrack. The beat never stop and you will enjoy the music with the pace of your run! The design and graphic of the game are amazing and the game support AMD Fidelity FX, so if you have a low spec pc like i do, you can enjoy the game at higher setting. In the end, the story is a generic plot but i have to say that i have enjoyed the dialogue between the protagonists and the english voices. I'd like to wrap it up saying that (like other reviews mentioned) it's not an easy game to play. But that does not mean you should not try it (there's even a demo) and find your pace to the game!
