Freespace 2

Not much needs to be said, if you want space dogfighting, this is THE prime example. So! Instead of writing another long winded review here, instead I'll direct you to hard-light.net. There you'll find a modding community dedicated to FS1 and 2. They've done spectacular work upgrading the engine, the models, you name it. There's also a lot of custom campaigns ranging from babylon 5 to homeworld and a fantastic series called Blue Planet.

I grew tired of Freelancer and opted to give this a try because of the glowing reviews. It is really good for sure, but I think many of the reviews here tap into that "well It was great when I was younger". Best space ship sim is Freelancer, and its not even close. This is a very good game still, but no where near the quality that the people flush it with.

I grew up playing this game, it was my first computer game ever, and I enjoy playing it like I use too. :)

Plays just as well as the original game. I am very happy to have purchased this game!

free space is the second best flight space sim to Free Lancer. It runs much better here on GOG then it does on Steam
