Freespace 2

I've played many different space sims, and this one is definitely up there.

This game not only deserved the praise it was given as being the absolute greatest space sims of its time....it deserves the looooonnggg overdue sequel to one of the most compelling conclusions to a beautiful well written story in a space sim that I have ever experienced!! Please call out to THQ to bring this franchise back to US!

Freespace 2 is, in my opinion, one of the defining games of the whole space combat genre. You play as a pilot in a little spaceship, and get thrown into large battles, which get very intense very quickly, and induce some real "oh craaaaap" moments when capital ships enter the fray. The single player campaign is long and varied, and an editor is included for making your own scenarios. In addition, online multiplayer is also available, for when you want challaneging battles with humans. The modding scene is active, with many campaigns and total conversions released, and the FreeSpace Open Source Project improves the game with better graphics and mod support. In short: Buy it.

after the Wing Commander Saga I found the 1st part, Conflict Freespace, real nice, stunning Graphics, instant Action , good story, the 2nd Part leveled up and due to the FREESPACE SCP its a real worth titlte to buy, if you downloaded the SCP and all available campagins, you need a year to play all and best of all, there are new campaigns, conversions and it is still growing, definately 5 stars !!!! Definately worth to buy

Freespace and Freespace 2 are amazing games. Even today, one would be hard pressed to believe they are over 10 years old. The graphics are simply stunning, and there is a community dedicated to supporting this even today. The story and voice acting are top notch. This is the deepest most well thought out video game I have ever played. Wing Commander series can't touch it. They just don't make them like this anymore. I could go on and on, but all the reviews under me speak for themselves. Do not hesitate to try this game or it's predecessor. You will be very pleased.
