A pretty good game!

I'm not a fan of racing game but this one is the only one i liked so far! First, The bonus mini-games feature is just hilarious and fun. Perfect to play with friends in a party. Second, the off-roads style track are pretty well designer and fun to play. And Third, the cars are fakes so there is no "car constructor" involved in the production of this game which means that you can totally destroy your cars and THAT is a feature that is missing in most of racing game these days! This game is simply a must have! :)

Like racing and destruction?

This game is for you. Flatout has pretty good car detail in terms of damage. Wherever you scrape an opponent or wall, a dent appears. As the race goes on and you bump into more people, your car will literally start falling to pieces if you abuse it too much. The race courses are a tad bland, but still good nonetheless. The mini-games are fun as well, although you may have a tough time figuring out how to play them correctly. As for the cars, they provide a very wide range, including upgrades as well.

Lots of Fun and looks great!

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The graphics look great and it used the full 1366x768 rez of my laptop. Nicely detailed cars and damage. Everything looks super and the replay movies are well done. This is a really fun arcade racer. Just pick it up and go! I've only played a little bit, but I'm already having a blast. I'm using a Logitech rumble pad 2 and after some customization of the controls, it's working fine. Good music and sounds, the overall vibe reminds me a little of the classic "Road Rash" game. Definitely worth the price here at GOG.

Nearly-mindless fun

This is a game clearly built on a foundation of entertainment. Everything else comes second. Realism, customisation, and physics are all there in varying degrees, but if they didn't enhance the sheer fun to be had then they'd be out on their arses. As far as I can think of, everything in this game is fun - powerslides, huge jumps, nitro, using your opponents as bumpers, driving said opponents into posts and watching the driver catapult through the windscreen.... thanks to the damage modelling and somewhat over-the-top physics, it's even fun when you crash yourself! Put it this way, if an official Dukes of Hazzard game hadn't been released a couple of months before FlatOut was, this would be the closest you could get. It would be mindless fun except for the fact that it's not actually hugely easy! The game gets reasonably hard as you go on, but never gets frustrating. Even replaying the same track over and over again remains entertaining. The minigames are fun, and I do find myself coming back to them - they're not entirely throwaway. The demolition derby mode in particular is a good challenge, and (for me at least) endlessly replayable. The main thing weighing in against the game however is the (IMO) terrible soundtrack. It's a completely mediocre succession of generic nu-metal/punk/hardcore, which sounds like it's been bought in some kind of economy bulk licensing pack (that's not a joke, I really think they've spent as little as they can!). There are a couple of ok tunes in there, but largely it's grating, nondescript guitar chugging and angsty nasal vocals. Overall however, a great game with zero depth but loads of longevity and fun to be had!

Great Game

This game is simply amazing. It is worth its value by so much. The graphics are great, especially compared to some of the other racing games for $6. I was very pleased when I went to buy it and found it at $4.19. This game has amazing damage modeling. This game is great.
