Excellent walking simulator

I must point that Firewatch is a walking simulator first and foremost and have typical walking simulator qualities - it is short (3-4 hours) and there is no gameplay in a traditional sense, even less than in other walking simulators. If you are not ok with this, you probably won't enjoy this game. As a walking simulator this game is excellent - environment is scenic, story is engaging, emotional and cathartic. The main "gameplay" activity is selecting replies in dialogue. It has mostly roleplay value, because its impact on story is limited. In a way it reminds me of Telltale Games. The story starts rather slowly, but right from the start quite a lot of things happen and game is not boring. As I said there is not much traditional gameplay, I don't think there is any puzzle really in this game, but it is enjoyable if this kind of content is what you seek.

Lovely grafics, story, atmosphere

I just finished the game and I'm very positiv! It was a nice short trip! The game spread of love in each detail. Its a short hike (i got it in about 4,5h) but it's absolutely worth it. Fully recommanded.

good first half, terrible second half

own it on steam but might as well make a review here too. really like the first half, it's interesting, the dialogue is great and the story/mystery is really building up and you're getting invested then in the second half the story and mystery just falls flat, dialogue is still there but the story falling apart really ruins the experience.

Pure art

The game is awesome. Yes, it's not very re-playable for the story in itself. But the various flabbergasting landscapes, the tremendously immersive music, the sense of loneliness in the world are what still bring me back sometimes just to take a tour in Wyoming's woods. I won't get in the details with the story to avoid spoilers, but I also loved the ending, even if it was really different from what I was expecting. The only downside in my opinion is the price tag: 20 euros for this kind of game is pretty much (I think I bought it while it was in sale). But if you like this kind of game don't let anybody convince you otherwise and just take it.

Walk, relax and talk to Delilah

This game has been waiting for me in my backlog for ages. But you know - covid times, already played 100+ hours games I have been looking for something lighter, that would be ok for me to play at one weekend and that's it. Firewatch matches those needs perfectly. It's an indie game, which has all pluses of that kind of games, but also some minuses. Starting positively - I love the idea of a hero, who joined a fire watch squad to run away from his life and find meaning. I appreciate how creators enable us to pick what happened first and merged it nicely into the gameplay. This boost the immersion in the game and makes us care more about our character. The setting of the game is a large forest in US - graphics are definitely unique and stylish and due to the night and day system - each day spend in the game looks different. This is a huge plus and makes the game more interesting. There is some backtracking though - not so annoying due to the best part of the game - dialogues. When you walk (and you walk here A LOT), you can speak through walkie-talkie with your boss, Delilah. She is sitting in the watchtower close to your, but you build your relationship with her through dialogues, never knowing how exactly she looks like. And what you do, comment or nor and which dialogue options you choose - matter. This is the strongest part of the game and kudos for the writers and voice actors who did a stellar job there. I kind of wish to see a sequel and listen to their conversations a little bit more. Being a walking simulator, this game is not for those looking for action. You will get bored in seconds. For those searching for some peaceful moments when you can admire trees at the distance and uncover mysteries of the forest - Firewatch is your hidden gem. Play it and you won't be disappointed. I wish that the game had more replayability options and be a little bit longer.
