How to remove the pack
Since there are a lot of people with issues regarding this pack (me included), I have decided to post the solutions here, instead on the forums: - To stop the pack from auto-installing: Manage installation -> Configure -> DLC -> uncheck it from the list - To remove the pack, once installed: Go to Fallout 4 game folder, inside Data, delete "DLCHighResolutiontexture.." .ba2 files.

This isn't meant for you.
Its been a number of years, so maybe people do not really remember (or were not part of) the dicussion about this Hi-Res Texture Pack back in the day. (Afterall this was released 2 years after the game, and the modding scene shrank by that time) The TLDR is: This High Res texture pack isn't really meant for players to use. Its more meant for modders to use when they are creating new assets based on ones already in game. - Like a custom paintjob for a weapon, or robot. There are some graphical improvements in some locations but other places its minor at best. To an artist, working with a higher resolutution then scaling down to the actual game's texture resolution helps a lot. Maybe in the future when 60GB of disk space and a spare 8GB of VRAM useage is nothing this will be 100% worth it. But in 2023 other texture mods are the better way to go.

It's fine
First of all, beware of misguided review bombing: this is a *high resolution* texture pack. It's not a "different and prettier" texture pack. It's not a mod. It's not meant to make low(er)-resolution gaming better, it's meant to prevent high-resolution gaming from being worse. If you play at 1080p or less, this won't do much for you - and there's no reason to expect that. However, if you play at higher resolutions, especially 4K, this pack will help a lot with the "you're looking too close" feeling you constantly get with the standard textures. Performance-wise, I didn't notice any impact, but I guess it depends on your hardware. I use a 6900XT and a 4K 60Hz screen, so it was almost constant 60FPS before and after installing this pack. Not sure whether the GPU is working harder, though, but still not reaching 90% usage. It did increase VRAM usage to nearly 8GB, so take that into account when deciding whether it's worth installing in your system. I didn't have to wait for the textures to load either, but the game is installed in a particularly fast SSD, it may be more taxing for a slower drive and/or GPU. I share the concern of others: it was a bit annoying to redownload individual files until finally getting past the "corrupt file" roadblock. GOG just suggested to install Galaxy, but installing no client is part of the reason why I prefer GOG. No Galaxy client is also the reason why I can't comment on "forced installation", I manually installed it separately from the base game when I saw fit. Bottom line: it's good for running the game at actually high resolutions, it's not a game changer in any case, and it's superfluous for standard resolutions. If you have a 4K monitor, idle GPU resources and drive space to spare, bite the corrupt-file-lottery bullet and go for it with the right expectations -it's free after all. Otherwise, you know you don't need it.

Do Not Bother with the DLC
As GOG doesn't let you select which DLC GOG will ALWAYS try to update to include it. So, I downloaded the offline installer once, and then install from that. Problem solved right? Nope. Even using the offline installer, the bloody DLC still wants to download every time you play. What it provides can be done with mods, for far less space on your SSD.
