Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

Nope. Does not work. Despite GOG's already applied fix that limits its number of cores to 2. No amount of tinkering with compatibility settings seems to work. I know this game came out a year before Windows 7 did but...A YEAR??? A YEAR IS ALL IT TAKES FOR A GAME TO BE CONSIDERED "ABANDONWARE" BY ITS OWN DEVELOPERS? THIS IS SUCH AN ASININE, BACKASSWARDS WAY OF DOING BUSINESS. Because most of us have Windows 7 64 bit now, since even just browsing the web can take up more than 4GB of RAM, and a 32 bit OS cannot usually access more than 4. And 4GB is only good these days for running old apps that came before 2010, and definitely not enough for games that came after. And limiting the game's FULL compatibility to OSes that came before Windows 7 is, again, idiotic and utterly asinine, since Windows 7 now has roughly 45% of the market, which means HUGE revenue losses. Bethesda, if you do not intend to support your games, then at least offer them for free and-or open source them. Ironically, there is a possible workaround, and it involves installing Linux (not too difficult, just grab a Linux distro .iso image like Ubuntu or one of its derivatives, like Xubuntu, which is highly recommended, grab a cheap thumbdrive, format it with Rufus or LiveUSB Creator, and unpack the contents of the .iso with its automated procedure, and insert it before the PC boots after setting the computer to boot off a USB drive first), running the installer through Wine, which is a compatibility layer for Windows applications. So this is what I am going to do now: I am going to download GOG's offline installers, and see if I can get it to run. How disappointing. Shame on you, Greedesda.

Reviewers some reason claim that this game runs on Windows 10 OS. As it is, it does not. Trying the run the game as is, this version is no different than the Steam version. I really don't understand how you cannot figure out how to make this game work on Windows 10 OS's. Fallout New Vegas (which is basically the same game engine, assets, etc. as Fallout 3) runs Windows 10 OS with the only glaring problem being the bizarre autosave-perpetual-loading-screen error that rarely happens, but can easily be addressed without losing progress in-game. Recommendations: 1.) Remove Windows 10 compatibility from the store page for this game. Having to do some corrections, trail-and-errors, and install seemingly non-associated software is not something as I, an end-user and consumer should. 2.) I would assume the only way to run this game as is from download is by creating a partition or virtual machine of Windows XP on my computer, which I am not going to do as it is a waste of space on my computer just to run ONE game that doesn't run on the native OS. 3.) Have the Fallout 3-fanbase and community figure out how to get this game to run on Windows 10 OS's as you seem to have no idea what you are doing as the same mistakes exists from the Steam versions of this game (Yeah. There is the standard version and GOTY versions on Steam with both being "not Optimized for Windows 7 or later", which should simply say doesn't work on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 at all). 4.) I have actually gotten this game to work with the Steam version after doing some corrections to trick the game into thinking the proper graphic card is working and more than 2 cores exist. The fact that the game CHECKS for these hardware parameters should not exist a modern incarnation of this game. For anyone thinking about buying this game on here, DON'T! Just buy the Steam version and find a YouTube video tutorial on how to get this game to run on Windows 10. If I buy a case of lightbulbs, none should be broken.

Like the title says it doesn't work. It crashes when you click play and thats it. I tried guides, tipps, intructions from tech support and also some mods. Nothing makes this run. It's just a waste of money and time.
