Get it with friends
Very complex game, great AI. One or two pathfinding issues, but was a great LAN game. Always a new strategy to learn.

Good RTS Game
Empire Earth 2 is a good old RTS, however it is not as good as the first one but way better than EE3. The game hasn't aged very well graphic wise but its mechanics are still pretty solid. I very much recommend this game to every old school historical RTS fan.

Great Mechanics, Lackluster presentation
Empire Earth II builds on the previous game by adding in a great number of features like a relevant diplomacy system and addintion conditions to victory that make the game like a Civilization style RTS without compromising on the RTS. Unfortunately, this isn't my favorite of the series mainly for the reason that the presentation of the units, characters, and campaigns are severly lacking compared to the earlier game (which wasn't perfect either, but I digress). I immeadiately laughed out loud when I clicked on Teddy Roosevelt and I was greeted by "MY BLOOD BOILS." The voice acting was basically limited to one person, the same guy who voiced the mission briefing screen in Star Wars Rouge Squadron series, and it wasn't magical to say the least. The tutorials and campaigns he narrated felt fast paced and dry, compared to the first which had fairly decent voice acting at times and very memorable campaigns. Even the tutorial campaign in the first game was a campaign worthy of being called one, as it told the story of early empires while explaining game mechanics at the same time. The tutorial in EE II really doesn't feel that way, and neither do its other campaigns. I don't understand how the same franchise that was able to present Shakespeare's Henry V as a campaign scenario ended up doing worse presentationally wise in the next installment. As a side note, the music also sucks. :P
