Very impressive

The best melee combat in a game to this day and lo and behold its in a 10 Euro game made by a tiny indie studio. The game is outstanding for what it wants to be. Its somewhat short but you probably expected that already considering the price. If you struggle with the first hard section i urge you to push through (you know the one) then go down and grab the spear. The sword is a poor weapon overall and doesnt do the excellent combat justice. Minor gripes: The sword and greatsword are terrible and should never be used. Stopping enemy aggression is way too important and the only way to do that is to parry or to hammerstun them. The game is a bit too gear dependent and since the later areas are more open its easy to miss crucial weapon upgrades. No borderless window, turning on vsync kills my framerate.

Surely one of the biggest 2020 surprise

First of all if you're a dark souls player and also fan of fps you'll love this game ! It mixes elements of both worlds, with Metal music in the background, and you really need to learn the pattern of your enemies, because even it it looks like a FPS... It is for sure a Souls Like ! Second i highly recommend you to play in Hard AF mode, which is the hardest difficulty. Why ? because the game is short, and by placing the difficulty bar to the highest point, it will provide a challenge worth of your money investment. Some people managed to beat it in normal difficulty in 6 to 10 hours. I am myself in Hard AF mode and i am at around 60% of the game and already 10 good hours on it ! So i am pretty sure for me the game will be at the very least 15 hours long. this video on youtube will show you how good and nervous this game is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0-qAEgdp58 In fact i really want the devs to sell as many copies as they can, because this game is quite unique, really enjoyable and it would be nice to see this studio grow, and release a sequel one day :-)

Masterpiece worth its money

Few thoughts, after completing the game: 1) Slash, chop and pierce your enemies – a relly big amount of weapon(around 10 what is really good for indie FPS)! Choose one(or more) that fits your gamestyle. 2) 3 Chapters, 2 Bosses, though the game seems to be short(it may tale you 5-8 hours to complete), it is fun to start the new game + again and again. 3) Use enemies' souls to grow your power – strength, dexterity or constitution. Not only passive bonus, but skills as well. 4) There is a simple, but interesting plot. Like in porn – you might not be interested in it, but it should be. ELDERBORN ROCKS!

Very good but too short

I fucking love this game. The core of it in action. It can be a little sloppy but feeling of strikes is immersive. When soundtrack comes in it gave me Serious Sam's vibe, you're alone and there are hordes (not really) of enemies ahead of you. Challenge is good, but I didn't find it hard, enemies all have their weaknesses and if you abuse it they start to be very easy to kill, bosses have too primitive patterns, but it still feels satisfying to end them. I hope this game will get its deserved success. P.S. To be fair i "downloaded" it firstly, but after beating it, I felt obligated to buy it here. P.P.S. Story is very intriguing, if developers earn good money out of it I hope they come with an extended version of the game someday. Or it can inspire some other game. Good luck, Hyperstrange.

Far From great

Honestly, it's boring. The level design is calustrophobic and a genuine pain in the ass to navigate. The combat lacks the satisfying punch I'm looking for. The visual presentation is top notch, however, and is one of the only positives here. I suppose the music is pretty good, too. Typical Unity Engine stuttering and frame drops are present here. I had the same issue with Project Warlock when the FPS would drop from a perfectly stable 144 to 60-70 after throwing a frag grenade. The combat feels clunky and really doesn't scratch that itch for me. All the ingredients required to make a great game are here, but alas...
