Dungeon Keeper™ 2

I'm running W7 and other than a couple of crashes and having to click through the "there's no disc loaded" message I'm having a blast. I've loved this game a looong time. I don't mind saving often and when I lose stuff I just go back to where I was. But for me DK2 is just a stress reliever have fun between working on projects game. Totally worth the price.

In the realm of generic RTS-genre, a twisted competitor arises with dark, witty humor and great cast of characters and original gameplay. Dungeon Keeper 2 is really a unique gem for all PC-gamers, propably because it manages to deliver a true experience, one that you don't often find in standard RTS's - or games of any genre! What are the features that make the game so precious? In one word, it's the personality. A goblin dancing in the casino after winning a Jackpot, while "Discoinferno" is playing in the background, the remarkably evil commentator that gives information of the events in the players realm, and the great mixture of everyday life-simulation and sinister deeds. These are some of the peculiarities that DK2 endorses. Torturing and imprisoning of enemies is also worth mentioning. Twisted imagination and ok-gameplay are enough to give birth to a cult classic that suffers mostly from repetition. As the campaign doesn't actually take any serious leaps to invigorate the basic concept. Nevertheless, DK2 is a wild species that no one can tame. Try it.

I have also Windows 7 64 bit version and I have no problems with the game, no crashes, nothing. The grafik is a little bit, you know, old, but I love the game.

I also got the CD version to run fine.

I've not actually bought DK 2 from GOG as I still have an old copy hanging around but I was inspired to dig it out and load up in a fit of nostalgia. I also experienced problems playing in Windows 7 - specifically blocky graphic corruption. However, this seems to be a graphics card/DX issue rather than a W7 problem. I found turning off the hardware accelarator didn't seem to do the trick as it just defaulted back on again. I did find a solution, afraid it means editing the registry - as always, take care when editing your registry - you do so at your own risk. I suggest you back up your registry first before messing with it. Open up the registry using Regedit. look for HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareBullfrog Productions LtdDungeon Keeper IIConfigurationVideo or and set Engine ID to 4. While your'e there ensure ypour 3D hardware setting is at 0. Game now works fine and lives up to my rose-tinted memories of it. Hope this helps
