Door Kickers: Action Squad

I gave a 5-star due to enjoying the tactical and casual gameplay. It might take you some time to get the hang of it but in the end is worth it. The game offers different way of playing through its roster of characters. My favorite pick is the breacher. Give it a chance, you won't regret it!

Great 1980's action flick climate. showing in every aspect of the game from music, through scenography, graphics, colors etc.. Game doesn't take itself seriously and that's a good thing. What I personally find a great disadvantage is no saving opti1on, no checkpoints - nothing. It sows frustration. Especially considering the fact that levels are not short and some situations can only be handled by dying and coming back (you will not know how many enemies are behind closed doors and how they're armed or for example - if there's not gonna be another machete wielding guy jumping you from behind that door etc..). On the other hand great climate and some satisfactory kills make me try one level many times. This creates love and hate relationship with this title for me. On one hand game seems easy to jump into and a good choice for parents and busy people. On the other, it soaks up your time like a sponge and can leave you with that feeling that you almost had it the fifth time now but something unexpected happenned and you have to start all over. Even with perks like another life which I often manage to get, dying is still quite possible. I wish they changed it and created save option for those who want it.

Clear a small level of bad guys, proceed to next level. The challanges come in the form of: multiple bad guys, which way to enter the room and sometimes trial and error (dark room, on which side of the room is the bad guy that just shot me). Great content: several characters, upgrade tree, online coop multiplayer, tight action, nice pixel art, fun idea, nice music, soundtrack included!, level editor included. Personally not interesting to after 30 minutes, that's why the 3/5 rating. Sorry, game. It's me, not you. :)

I loved this game on Xbox. When I installed GOG, I picked this up right away becasue you can't get the DLC with the Xbox version. The gameplay has a tremendous amount of polish and the upgrade system is amazing; I'm enjoying it even more on my second playthough. It has the realistic (for a game like this) gunplay elements you'd expect from a Tom Clancy game with the quirky pixel art you'd expect from the NeoGeo classics of old. Highly recomended!

PROS: Game was better than I hoped it would be. It does everything well and the level design is fantastic. Bad buy variety is there and you have enough different characters so each run can be different and not get old. Easy to learn hard to master... DAMN EXPLOSIVE TRIGGER BAD GUYS! CONS: Only issue I have come across with this game is when trying to play online coop the sessions keep disconnecting. My buddy and I can maybe play 1 full game together before it crashes. Keep that in mind if you're looking to do online coop.
