Amazing Game, Worth Every Penny.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure if I was even going to play this game. I bought the enhanced edition of the original game, and I never finished it. The game was good but I lost interest quickly. This game though I've completed several times, and I am at 232 hours played. The writing and narration in this game was funny and engrossing at the same time. The combat mechanics are great and very polished. The graphics and atmosphere are very well done too. At several points I was hitting my screen to determine whether the bugs were from the game or on my screen. The game is also quite challenging for new players on classic mode and provided a good challenge my first play through. The quest system doesn't hold your hands at all, and I found myself very often looking up what to do which could be a positive or negative for some people. Overall, This game is not only, my favorite game this year, but one of my all time favorite games.

A new standard in topdown/isometic RPGs

I played Pillars of Eternity and I couldn't finish it, the opening paragraph of voice acting forced me to listen to voice acting only to have to read it again right away to get the full dialogue of the encounter. It was jarring (for me) and constantly took me out of the game. DOS II is fully voiced acted with an enjoyable story and the mechanics makes POE looks decades old. The co-op is fantastic in the game, one player and NPC in our co-op game was willing to let an innocent elf languish in a cage starving to death. i said no way and killed the NPC my companion was colluding with. My mate might have been the one initiating the conversation but i left the conversation and attacked. This is great competitive co-op. What other game do you know where a player not initiating a conversation can make story altering opposed choices? Steal from a merchant they will run around looking for their item asking to look in your bag. In a co-op game it is possible to have 1 player talk to a merchant a 2nd steal the item and a third accept a hand off of the item and run off with it avoiding detection. The interaction of elements in the game makes so much sense. What would you do if you where on fire beside a pool? You'd jump in the water. Do that in so many cRPG and nothing happens. DOS II understands and has mechanics so you can use water spells or barrels to put out fires which creates steam that blocks line of sight. An oil/grease spell slows people down but can be put on fire. Poison will contaminate a pool of blood or water. Suddenly there is a whole new tactical paradigm when elements interact and become part of the terrain. Combat is multilayered that the group can use to form a great combinations of spells/abilities that a more powerful than the sum of their parts. In my opinion this is new gold standard of isometic cRPGs. The 2- 4 co-op mode is incredible, in my 3 player co-op I am amazed how much freedom each player has.

Great game, some flaws but mods can fix

Great game, lots of mods from the community. The mods especially the QoL mods make this game much better. Lots to do, it's engrossing, well written and graphically beautiful. Everyone says this game is so hard on classic mode, I think after the first act and midway into the second act, it's too easy on classic. Inventory management is horrible, but worth the pain. You need to upgrade your gear every level, which is really stupid, but there are mods to fix this or lesson the impact. Bottom line in an RPG a level 15 Divine/Legendary item should have better stats then a level 16 common or rare, but not in this game. Despite the flaws the game is incredible and well worth your 100+ hours. The replay value alone is worth the money. I will be looking forward to future games from Larian Studios. My wife is a huge fantasy nerd, she only likes the following games; almost all Legend of Zelda games (N64 and up), Skyrim, and all the Dragon Age games, and throw in Knights of Amalur. Needless to say she hasn't found a game she really likes since BotW and DA3. She loves this game for the storytelling, and she hates over the top CRPG. This game has made her re-think her stance on games like this. I think that says a lot.

Just amazing

If you havn't played many classic rpgs like I had not. I urge you to stay with it, the learning experience might be a bit rough and dry at the start. But damn, I just finished the game and it's one my best gaming experiences. Already planning my next playthrough.

Best RPG of recent years

Divinity original sin 2 is easily one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences ever created. Great voice acting, deep and tactical gameplay and interwoven player choice means this game is difficult to put down. Cheers Larian studios.
