Din's Legacy is an action RPG with mutating characters, set in a dynamic, evolving, fantasy world for Windows and Linux.

During the Orc Schism, the entire Orc race was violently split into Dark Orcs, Zombielords, and the Mutated. The Mutated are tainted with Orc blood, a zombie parasite, and necromancer magic. This makes people seriously mistrust and even fear them. The fact that they slowly mutate over time makes it even worse. Who is going to trust you when you grow horns overnight?

Despite all of this, the Mutated are actually more closely related to the Elves, both their behavior and physically. They want to prove this to the world, but they are facing a tremendous uphill battle.

The trickster god Din was intrigued by their chaotic mutations and burning desire to prove themselves to the world. Always in need of champions, he made a pact with the Mutated. Each volunteer would become one of his champions trying to save the world wherever Din sends them. In return, each time they die in his service he resurrects them to continue their service.

Din's Legacy, as well as the Mutated's and yours, are all in your hands! Can you be the Champion that is needed?

Soldak's liveliest living world ARPG yet

Din's Legacy is an ARPG that controls like Torchlight but executes like Rimworld. If you're looking for a game about min-maxing your character for a predictable story like a well-oiled swiss watch, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a game that actually makes you feel like a hero fighting against an encroaching threat that you CAN lose to, you'll find this game has a lot of excitement under its ugly-duckling exterior. This is a sequel to Zombasite, the world is slowly recovering from the zombie plaguebut your race of orc/elf hybrids were cursed by necromancy to constantly mutate, and are mistrusted by the world at large. The trickster god Din takes an interest in your character and grants you limited immortality to perform heroics around the world to build a good name for the mutants. Each world is randomly generated. You are placed in a village that needs your protection and the goal of every map is to complete all the random quests before the village is wiped out. Unlike other RPGs, the forces of darkness are not patiently waiting in their lairs for you to come and slay them, they're recruiting lieutenants, performing rituals, and doing other dastardly deeds to kill your villagers. Take too long and your village WILL be invaded an wiped out. Win or lose you can always roll up a new world to save with the same character. This game's new feature is mutation. You randomly get good or bad minor mutations as you play, (for example, a flame wave effect added to a whirlwind attack) and can suppress bad ones with skill points. Then as you gain XP you earn major mutation points which can be spent to switch classes ala. Final Fantasy Tactics while also flushing bad mutations and refunding skill points. Protip for new players: Vendors are rare in this post-apocalyptic world, mainly you should be breaking down junk equipment at the crafting bench to produce ingredients to repair, enhance, and enchant the good stuff. Try the demo! It's better than it looks.

Strong Balance issues, some bugs

This title didn't reive much love after the release especially in regard to balance. Buy it to support soldak when devloping drox operative 2 but not really for this game. I tried it for about 3-4 hours. I experienced the following issues: 1)Some Faction Enemies moving too fast to hit with firebolt. (Later you can use lightning but you need to unlock that character 2)Being utterly steamrolled by an enemy faction. It killed all other enemi factions in about 10-15 mintues.Then it killed me. 3)Atacking units of enemy faction often had a huge healthpool. I sucesfully did a hit and run but it was still quite annoying. 4)Some enemies in the same level range have a quite high health pool (6 hits required) or resists while other drop quickly (2 hits required). Even if it's a resists issue it carries siginificant penalties leveling several spells at once. 5)One quest (find x itemy in area y): I checked the whole area and it seems i would have to wait for respawns in hope of an enemy dropping it. ( I consider that as quite annoying this as never an issue in the original dins curse ) 6) Mutations while interesting on paper it means much more balance issues. I recommend drox operative or the original dins curse from soldak. They are much better

Worse than I tought, sorry...

I was one of those who actively voted YEA for bringing Din's Legacy to GOG when it was rejected at first. Now I'm feeling slightly disappointed. For me, there's not enough new content here to make it a separate full-valued game. It should rather go as another DLC for Zombasite. I do understand that indie developers can be forgiven for such a little sin as selling DLCs as new games to pay their bills and earn their crust. I do deeply respect Steven Peeler for his unremitting inventiveness and creativity in making ARPGs as a genre more interesting, challenging and lively. I do own this game (as everyone can see) as well as all other Soldak titles. And I will buy every next one too. I just vaguely feel that the next title has to be more radical change from the familiar track the serie took from Din's Curse release. New graphical assets, new world (Drox 2, maybe?), something really NEW, not just constantly sliding downstream with endless new mechanics added to the core trunk of the same game. For the newcomers in Soldak world I would still recommend Din's Curse and NOT Din's Legacy, sorry. The game became TOO chaotic now, it seems that some consistency has been lost irrevocably in Zombasite already.

As usual high quality game from Soldak

There are so many enhancements over previous game (Zombasite) its too many to list. I uncovered 33 classes so far and you can mix and match between them through "mutation". You can mutate as often as you want at any level, you gain mutation points and can build them up and use later. Landscape has depth and graphics are what you expect from Soldak. Game play is fast and smooth on Win 7 64bit AMD 12 core/RX580 video. Replay value and Fun Factor of this game exceeds most games. Excellent value for the money. If you like action role playing, character building, exploring this game is for you. I would give it 6 stars out of 5 if I could.

It is a SEQUIL to Din's Curse

There are people complaining that it's too similar to Din's Curse, the thing is, this game has another 9 years of work on the game engine from when Din's Curse came out. It's touch to release an "expansion" when there is that much changed in the game. Basically, this is a sequel. It's got a lot of expanded features, more scenarios, variation, and the random skill mechanic that I find pretty fun, especially since you can stack crazy powerful skills on each other as you level and tweak the skills. For example something like "cause minions to explode on death" then "extra fire damage" so the death explosions cause a chain reaction. I like how it fits just some frantic multi-player fun. Dive in a round with some friends, destroy a lot of stuff while trying to win the current round. I love the living world mechanic that causes things to progress as you play. I find the old way of "nothing happens until you accept the quest" that RPGs usually use incredibly boring now.
