Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Digital Deluxe Edition

Ran into a problem during the prologue with the stealth-cover tutorial breaking. Went online looking for a solution. Solution not found but the issue was posted 6 years ago on Reddit. Decided if the devs don't have the will to fix tutorial bugs, I don't have the will to try to brute force the tutorial. Uninstalled & refunded.

Good game. I bought it on STEAM only, and bought it again for the DRM-free version. However, my last two DLC shown as 'UNKNOW' and unplayable. Don't know why? * Of course I have the season pass...

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a game that offers a surface level replication of everything that made the original good. It looks and feels like Deus Ex until you realize it doesn't have an inch of the depth its predecessor had, neither in terms of story nor gameplay. Everything in Mankind Divided, along with Human Revolution for that matter, is a simplification, a reduction or a poor imitation of what made the first game in the series a classic. You have fewer interesting augmentations (with skills being entirely removed), smaller, less imaginative levels and less thematic depth. The latter is the absolutely worst part of the game. Is there a single conversation, side quest or memo that isn't about human augmentation? Did any of the writers ever stop to consider if this theme was even a good metaphor for real life racial tension (hint: it isn't)? MD has this weird, myopic focus on this one topic to the exclusion of everything else, resulting in a game world that, like its cyborg protagonist, feels totally artificial. If the gameplay made up for it, that would be fine, but it doesn't. Everything is too easy. You level up so fast you get access to most of the powerful skills right away, making the majority of encounters a cake walk. You're never forced to choose between mutually exclusive skills like in the original. You find hidden stashes of items *everywhere*, meaning you're swimming in ammo and money a few hours in. And the level design is so generous in the amount of ways it allows you to traverse it that you never, ever feel stuck or challenged. Can't hack a terminal? Rest assured, there is a weak wall right next to it that you can punch through, a datapad in the next room with the code on it or a conveniently placed vent in the ceiling that you can use instead. I have almost nothing good to say about this game. It looks and sounds pretty good, I guess. Other than that, I find it overhyped and underwhelming.

The quality of the Czech language in this game is absolutely terrible!! The city of Prague here looks like some poor suburb of an American city. The authors of the game must really hate my hometown! Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Director's Cut) has worse graphics, but is clearly better overall.

Before getting this game on The Competition's DRM FILLED store, I have finished "Deus Ex: The Fall". The first level was just too familiar, an extended DXTF introduction level. I was annoyed and disappointed: I had thought that this was an original game. I got my money back, at least. I think what rather should be done, is that DXTF be remastered (WITH JUMPING and WITHOUT THE IN-BATTLE SHOPPING) and the follow-up episodes made. Especially now with The Vaccines taking the media by storm, the Diazepam/ Ryzene dilemma of DXTF seems to fit well into the current scheme of things. Hereby a request to Eidos, to see if they can get the rights to DXTF and do it justice, without micro transactions. I loved the depth and political commentary of DX and I saw how world events were portrayed realistically, in DXHR. But I somehow just fail to place DXMD anywhere. I just cannot see what's been added to the series, except for micro transactions. But I do see why JC Denton did not star again, in the one DX game that we want to deny existed. And likewise, why Adam Jensen should have been DXHR only. Three stars, for graphics and playability (for the while that I played).
