Werid but still good

GAMEPLAY The gameplay takes some getting used to, especially if you just launched off the heels of the original but becomes pretty decent mid-way through. Keycodes not needing to be typed in, bio mod installation on the fly is a huge and no energy cost for the flashlight are BIG positives for this game. Some negatives (could just be me though) the physics sometimes just straight up go out of wack, making vent crawling and jumping over to a ledge really difficult. WAAAAY more loading screens and can sometimes be aggravating if you missed an item or forgot to turn in your quest in to the quest giver. STORY The story this time around was not as polished or deep as the original but still managed to stick the landing for what it wanted to accomplish and had actually stakes that made it compelling like in the first game. Side characters weren't as memorable or interesting but likable all things considered. Smaller experience unlike the original but worth playing despite its shortcomings and if you want to check this out, I recommend it.

It's fun, but it could have been better

This game deserves a remaster, if not a full remake. We have patches created by fans, and some support from GoG to get the PC release running on PC, which I appreciate a lot! But seriously, this is one of those games that -HAS- potential to be redone with things that made the first game great, while expanding on the content and side-stories, level layouts and just general scope. - The game itself: It's a fun sci-fi story, where the "punk" of the first game is kind of lost, along with much grunge that was baked into every corner and every texture. The gameplay is rather janky, and the engine shows its age pretty distinctly. That doesn't mean it isn't worth playing. It has its moments of goofiness, and the upgrade system, while simple, is functional, and lets you sort of switch out what you want once a biomod or weapon feels less effective. The levels aren't large like they were in the first game, but there's still some hidden nooks to find, while not being confusing. It's obvious they wanted to make it "easier" for people who felt confused by the first game's layout, but that, to me, was just an issue with preference rather than bad game design. Music and vibes are still pretty good here, even if the music never quite hits you like the NYC streets or Liberty Island areas. The music is serviceable, is what I mean. The one caveat being the usage of Kidneythieves, which added some great music to the game ( - You may disagree, and I get it. It's not to everyone's taste - ). The story is... well. There's a lot that could be added to slow the pace down, and give much more build-up to certain turning points. You still know there's something happening in the background, and some of the consipracies are interesting, if not funny and thoughtful. But they'll come and go so quickly you'll probably not give them too much thought in a first playthrough. Yeah - Someone get the Deus Ex rights and give it the System Shock Remake treatement, please? I'd be down !!

Abwechslungsreich und Frei

Ich finde das Spiel für sein Alter super. Die Freiheit, welche man hat ist für damalige Verhältnisse sehr gut. Ich kann selber entscheiden auf welche Weise ich mein Ziel erreichen möchte. Entweder gehe ich als Berserker rein und schieße wild rum, oder ich versuche mich unsichtbar zu machen oder sogar mit Geschick einen Umweg zu finden. Jede Aktion wird allerdings Konsequenzen für meine nächsten Schritte nach sich ziehen. Somit steht einem erneuten Spielen nichts im Wege weil es doch die Ein- oder Andere Situation gäbge, welche man doch besser hätte "so" machen sollen. Geniales Game wie ich finde und auch für heutige Zeiten noch recht gut spielbar.

Game ruined by.. fan expectations.

I'm not doing an in-depth review of Deus Ex - Invisible War, I just wanted to say that it's actually a very enjoyable game. It simply isn't very much like Deus Ex 1. It has a lot going for it, and while I consider DX1 one of the best games of all time, I have actually played through DX2 a couple of times. Try it, it's a good'un.
