One of the Sci-Fi/Horror Greats

Dead Space is one of my favorite games of all time. It gave me some unforgettable moments when I first played it on console back in 2008 and I've continued to play it for the past 8 years on various systems. Sure the more in your face horror doesn't hold up as well with multiple playthroughs, but its gameplay, lore, and solid design have kept me engaged even when the howling monsters are more annoyances than serious threats after 4+ outings. One of the immediate features to note is the amazing UI on display. The HUD is on your character's back and is considered a part of the world (diagetic if you want to be fancy). This not only helps make the world feel more real, but can make the dreaded QTEs a little more interesting as you won't be sure if you're about to die when you're lying on the ground. Overall the bosses are well done, with the repeated one (no spoilers) being a particular stand out thanks to your, shall I say relationship? with it. They all have some bit of personality even if they're mostly just mashed up corpses.

Get rid of the mini game....

If you are like me, and want to pick this game up because it is on sale, then by all means do so. However do yourself a huge favor, which is make sure you set it on easy first; You see, after all this time the game carries with it one huge flaw. A Mini Game. yes, It is a Mini game where you have to shoot astoriods with a torret. Sure, that does not sound hard, but when it is on any other setting other then easy you are going to be spending hours playing, and replaying that one part. Turning up your mouse sensativity, lowering your graphic settings, turning up brightness, none of this works. I was pleasantly hyped and excitied to see more in this game, Until I reached the end of Chapter four and that mini game. If there was a way to refund this garbage I would. Anyone who tells you they completed that with no problems obviously had it on ultra low. Good luck with cheats or trying to lower the difficulty after you start a game. No Can do. Other then that, and from what I saw, the game play is wonderful and gives you a true immersion experience.Pity this feels more like a Demo then the full game this way.

A masterpiece!

If you haven’t played this gem yet I sincerely envy you. The best experience is with a controller and making some tweaks with v-sync and so that you find online to improve the gameplay. So, stop reading a start playing Dead Space!!

STILL Great

10 years later and it's still my favorite horror shooter, the mouse controls are pretty wonky on PC and there's no fixing it but it's not that hard to get used to. If you want a good shooter with some great atmosphere pick it up.

This is how you do it.

Guys and Girls this game is an survival horror masterfully craftet with a pinch of Alien and a pinch of H.P. Lovecraft universe. Sci-fi horror at its best. The ambience, the sound, the graphics man oh man top notch. The only downside is that it takes some time to adapt to the controls as for navigate around without do many mistakes and die because of that but when you get it...becomes an otherwordly experience. Don't think much because it is a nobrainer must buy. Pick it up, install it, turn the lights off, turn the volume up and enjoy the ride. -10/10-
