Great Visuals; Frustrating and Insulting

This game looks great. I greatly appreciate it for how far it pushed tech back in the day; throughout its life; and how it influenced the industry to push game developers, generally, to push tech, themselves, rather than pushing mediocre tech onto the masses and deeming doing so as acceptable practise. Including forward-looking/advanced features is always empowering to the user (provided the game is well-optimized, and the game/engine is properly scalable – both of which this game is), but it doesn't excuse poor aspects of a game, nor does it add to it in terms of a rating/its value. It's the difference between quality-of-life (QoL) being something normal – or even *expected* – as opposed to something that genuinely enriches a player's experience; their sense of joy, fun, engagement, inspiration, enrichment (psychologically; as either a personal or "tonal"/world-view role model; imparting knowledge or general wisdom as opposed to something personal (i.e.: "psychological", as mentioned before)), et cetera. However; aside from its tech, this game is *incredibly* mediocre. It is quite convoluted, cumbersome, and unfulfilling in its skill system (EVEN AFTER the MASSIVE overhaul it received as of the 2.0 update... YEARS after the game's release, by the way); its side missions are generally pathetic; being emotionally unengaging, uninteresting, and unfulfilling; its main story offers basically *NO* value to the player in terms of offering any real enrichment, inspiration, joy, et cetera (as mentioned above as KEY POINTS for a video game); and both its world does not inspire one to be in it, and its characters are not inspiring nor enjoyable to be around. Yes: the game is meant to depict a depressing and “difficult” world; but that does NOT mean that the experience within it – nor the experience with its characters – has to be depressing and “difficult”, too. I have a lot more to say, but this is near the character limit. I hope this helps your buying decision. 2/10

a disappointment

The graphics do show their age, but maybe I raise the bar a bit too high. Maybe. One issue are the characters. They are forgettable and it's very hard to build a relationship with them, with few exceptions. 'V' has that terrible brutforced voice over "please like me". 'V' should have been from the get-go on par with Adam Jensen from Deus Ex, or Joel Badass from the Last of us. Why to create such a weak protagonist is beyond me. The tremarkable open world of Night City is a gem and leaves you hours of exploring the dark and wicked parts of this Cyberpunk environment. CD Red dit a fantastic job. 100% The controls feel solid. The interasctions and button combos don't make sense at time and can be frustratingly overcomplicated especially for people with motoric disabilities. This makes Cyberpunk to the most unfriendly game and should be played by people without any disabilities. A game pad can help, but not everyone does have a gamepad or can use one. Big MINUS The Story is only a bonus and feels detached. I personally got more story out of Mass Effect, Deus Ex and the Last of us. I thought I get something similar with Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk remains a disappointment.

gog needs to recognize outside purchases

I love the game and all it's "updates". It's better than Half-Life, Gears of War, Halo, and Doom franchises combined! Makes GTA more of a kiddie game, and Sims can't hold a candle to it! Adding a 3D VR aspect to it all would only give me reason to embrace VR finally! Glad it's at least on Steam/Steam Deck! -1* for having to make multiple purchases!!! This is nuts that I had to purchase this now 2x because gog doesn't recognize purchases via anything else, on top of it, they stopped supporting Android after Google defuncted Stadia, and if Valve and Gog have it out, I'm SOL again!?! This is utter nonsense to be babified about it!

Flawed greatness

First hours are frustratingly handholdy and force the player to follow a very scripted line of events, but once the game opens up it becomes actually really good, filled with mature storytelling, fleshed out characters and handcrafted immersive world. Its still pretty buggy and combat is mediocre, but the positives vastly outweight those issues. Great visuals, music and voiceacting.
