I Should Have Waited

I think I got drawn in on all the hype over the last year or so. Preordered the physical GoG version from Amazon so I could get the goodies that came with it, and for only $50. I've only played two or three hours of the game though and will probably wait awhile to go through it. I'm encountering a ton of odd bugs (I know I'm not the only one), the keyboard and mouse controls are, to put it lightly... not good. It's nonsensical. I had to pull out my old Logitech G502 so I had enough buttons to map the many keyboard commands to. Just using the keyboard with no mouse shortcuts, the game makes my hand feel like it's playing Twister. The game is also horribly un-optimized. An i7 7700k overclocked, 32GB Ram and a 2080 Super with the game on an M.2 SSD netted me about 20 FPS with the games default, recommended settings. Also, I'm epileptic and what I read about the lights in certain sequences triggering them is a bit worrisome (although I haven't reached one of those spots in the game yet.) In the end I wish I'd waited to get this. I'm pretty sure I'll be waiting until a lot of the issues in this game are dealt with before I end up going back to it to play all the way through it anyway. Honestly, this reminds me so, SOOO much of the Batman: Arkham Knight PC release. I just hope this game doesn't take them five months to sort out. I'll update my review if/when many of the issues are addressed. While the few hours I've played of the game was interesting, I'd recommend that no one buy this until more things are fixed.

Less Life In City than 2013 Games

There is no fun side activities at all. No Fun Side Activities: - no golf, tennis, card games, - no casino, gambling, drinking and eating - NO CHARACTER CUSTOMISATION AFTER THE START SCREEN - NO HAIRCUTS - NO STYLES - NO TATOOS - NO NOTHING There is no AI: - The vehicles are on a guided path with no concern to what you're doing - The NPC do not care to talk or interact with you, nor do they have a daily routine - Vehicles and NPCs will respawn totally different if you look behind and then again They also removed these features that were expressed in the trailers: - Mass Transit System (shows your character V riding on the train) - No Wall Climbing - No Dynamic Weather - No Buying and Purchasing Apartments - And More Do Not Buy This Game

Not recommended.

Absolutely JANKY. Nothing of what was promised was delivered. This is not an RPG. This is bugy and empty, you need a top-end rig to run it passably. The driving is passable and car, weapon, and character customization is absent. The open world is gorgeous to look at but empty, there's nothing to do that doesn't involve shooting people in the face, they should have taken a page from RDR2 or Deus Ex. There is no roleplaying narrative, your choices feel hollow and you are just a passenger in V's skin, life paths are meaningless, they drop you in and tell you "yeah, you care about this" and don't tell you why you should. V wants to become a legendary merc, ok, why? why should I care? because you guys tell me to? Show, don't tell! At the very least you could have taken time-proven mechanics from many other top-end titles and used those as a baseline to build upon, but yet you couldn't even do that. The game is fun for a while but eventually, the emptiness creeps in and you realize what you got yourself into. At the very best, buy this after a year of patches and at a heavy discount, if that. I've lost all faith in CDPR, they had 8 years to get this right, they delayed it multiple times, they straight up lied about console performance and game features. They were the last standing reputable gaming company for me, now they share a place in the same shelve as EA.

Over-promised, under-delivered

After years of hype, it's finally here. It's a disappointment. The story so far is great, but it's on rails - most of your decisions don't matter. The game is buggy, with constant crashes, visual glitches, stuck UI and broken physics. The "open world" they promised is huge but shallow. NPCs don't do anything or react to you (other than spitting out a single line or cowering), police spawn randomly, cars can't drive. Huge buildings you cannot enter, bars and restaurants you can't eat at (the NPC inside just stares at you). I would ask for a refund, but have 25 hours in the game and don't feel it is fair to ask for one. I'm done with the game. I'll wait a few months, maybe they will fix the countless glaring issues and put some actual "open world" content into the game.

Not what it was advertise for.

The game is more of an action adventure open world type of sandbox. It is clearly not on the RPG side (it has some RPG mechanics). If you're okay with a game that's a mix beetween Far cry/watch dogs then go for it. If you're expecting a big RPG with a lot of choices then don't buy it.
