A waste of money and time

I waited 5 years for this and then one more for it to get updated and game is still basically in pre alpha. There is something here, but not worth the price point and the bugs. They'd have to basically remake most of the systems (which they already did in the development hell this shit went through). Not recommended. Although i did have a bunch of fun, and the writing is really good. Sadly the good parts are completely overwhelmed by the problems

Not the CDPR quality we USED to have.

CD Projekt Red has lost all of my trust and respect, but worse yet, they've lost vision and themselves. I don't know what happened over there at CDPR's, and frankly, for the prideful statements they've made and expressed in the game's design . . . I don't care, they've made themselves just another greedy and incompetent triple-A studio that's not worth much if any consideration anymore in this time and age of "modern gaming" industry. What's the point of ray-tracing? Waste of development resources. What's the point of DLSS that is exclusive to "RTX" grossly overpriced hardware, and equally nonsense ray-tracing enabled hardware whilst the vast majority of people, who actually matter, their hardware being; RX 570/580s, GTX 1050 Tis, GTX 1060s and lastly RTX 2060s? No one asked, perhaps FSR, since it works even on Intel's oldest integrated graphics, being an open-source upscaling technology, making it the only sensible and worthwhile technology regarding upscaling, until Intel makes XeSS equally effective on non-Intel hardware too. Remove the graphics, which are irrelevant, and focus entirely on the actual gameplay and Cyberpunk's shallow world . . . you'll get a Cyberpunk-themed first-person shooter, looter and with some twists. It's not story rich, it has "a" story, choices are few and matter only in the literal sense, multiple endings do not make it a better game either, and are quite simple and predictable. Again . . . a colossal let-down, it had a few emotional and powerful moments, however, they were an expection, not the rule nor meet in the middle between the two for the best results. It's apparent throughout and the longer you play, as opposed to deeper immersing yourself as you play, the developers lost vision and their touch. Just another offensively overpriced triple-A pump-and-dumb title with a dim if any soul in it, starts out well, powerful . . . then it's all over the place, falling apart, a themed first-person looter shooter afterwards.

Very good ~ Deus Ex meets GTAV

I played this, and completed it, for the first time just now. That's in September 2022, after the release of the Edgerunners update. If you managed to ignore the hype and not get around to playing this for a while, as I did, now is a good time to play it. It's probably in the shape now that it should have been at launch. There are still rough edges and bugs, but on the whole, it's solid and performed well on my ageing PC. In terms of gameplay and overall experience, it's basically Deus Ex (first person RPG with cybernetic augmentations) meets GTAV (open world, driving, cinematic plot with set pieces and cutscenes, satirical advertising \ worldbuilding), which offers quite a nice combination of elements. The production value is high, the visuals and acting are great, the story is decently compelling, the art direction is on-point. I don't think it quite reached its potential. RPG elements are not amazing, but the depth they do bring is welcome. Perks could have been more interesting for instance. Controls are not bad but have some issues that are occasionally annoying. The open world is not as alive as GTA's, in terms of AI and random encounters, but it's still a beautifully crafted environment that's enjoyable to explore. None of the gameplay elements are really "best ever", but all bundled together the result is a pretty strong gameplay experience which I enjoyed a lot. If you managed to avoid it until now and ignore the hype as I did, and you're interested in these kinds of games, it's well worth your time.

v1.6 Review

As of v1.6 the game is fantasic. Sure theres still lots of things on the table that need implemented but lots of bugs have been squashed and some are still present but the game is stable; and provides a enjoyable expierence. Obviously some things left on the wishlist table: More depth to npc's at least more basic conversations. More immersive eating and drinking spots. More rommancable npcs and characters. More choices all around really. The issue is ; the freaking world built here is phenomonal and the story is outstanding its just you step foot in night city and you expect a world full of immersive activity and yet while its there for the big set pieces its absent in mundane activities and this is a world built so well you just expect it and since its not present it rips you out of the game a bit. Had this thing stayed in the oven until the devs could realize all this ; simply put this wouldve been the best game ever created. You can see the potential and I think thats what is so disappointing about it. Picking this up at ver 1.6 is a good buy. You really are missing out not playing it even with the bugs still left and the immersive depths left on the dev table. But hey; theres mods..
