A CTD-Fest for me

To me it is a buggy mess. i can live with things floating in the air and some clipping errors. Afterall a game this ambitious will have bugs and errors. i am also confident they will be solved in the future. however i can only rate 1 star because i haven't been able to leave the lifepath-area without repeating ctds (crash to desktop). this is the first game that, despite me trying tons of things, won't let me play without crashes. furthermore the controls seem to favour gamepads instead of mouse and keyboard. i am having trouble re-assigning keys and i think it's not optimal to double tap to dash.

Wasted potential and overhyped

Game has great potential, but it feels like they kept restarting and restarting cutting and cutting. The story should of been much longer and more involved considering how it feels. Lots of what they where selling about the game is not there. It feels like it will need expansions and an enhanced edition to really make it the game it should of been. CDPR needs to stop overhyping and just focus on being honest, they dropped the ball, not in such a terrible way, just they wasted the potential this game has and the story had, the story definitely feels like it should of been much longer. Just feels like it's another game that will require an enhanced edition, to the point that without it this game will just fizzle unlike Witcher 3 etc. They clearly bit more than they could chew, just hope they make up for it in a massive way with the fixes and the possible expansions. Otherwise the game outside of it's few emotional moments, doesn't really stand out as they claim it would.

An empty spectacle or an extremely unfinished game

Besides the obvious technical issues that actually froze my entire GOG account (thanks Twitter support person for the assistance, I truly appreciate the effort :) ), this game is many flashing lights and nothing else. The atmosphere is great and the tale's setup is tense, but 15 hours in, I cannot recommend the game in its current state - both from story or gameplay perspectives. There is simply nothing to do and the story excludes your active participation. Pretty much a massive QTE for 50USD. In short, it's just a better Watchdogs with Bethesda-level bugs. And the shoddy launch is not even comparable to that of the Witcher 3, as at least the progression system and story of Geralt involved you - the player. Avoid if you are looking for what one would expect of CD Projekt Red at this stage. That publisher and developer is gone. There is no love and care to be found in the streets of Night City. It's all waypoints, recycled weapons, faux-loot, and janky graphics. Though it can be beautiful to see characters smirk in front of glistening streets, the story and gameplay loop is beyond dull. Would recommend you buy this on a sale 2 years from now, to merely look back on what all the fuss was about on the 10th of December, 2020. P.S. Shame on your executives for setting a review embargo to hide the unplayable state of the console versions. Was it not bad enough that you crunch your employees and hijack their bonuses with Metacritic scores? Why not pull your loyal customers down in your gross decline into the realm of EA and Activision? Glad to know investors mean more to you than the fans and developers that actually make CD Projekt Red. Ironic that this game is about corporate vapidity and craven executives/management.

Too woke

The wokeness of the game, is the real killer. As a game itself, it's average at best. None of the mechanics are original, the dialogues/script are average at best. If you are a straight man, good luck getting any romance going... What a disappointment. The only good thing, was how good the game looked visually. CDPR has fallen low ;(

Never Preordering Again. Do not play now

TL;DR at bottom. This serves as a lessons between expectation and reality. No matter how many movie stars, realistic systems and lore diving can save a game. Never ever preorder. Its completely anti consumer. I played a bit since release and came across nothing but bugs that stopped progress, shooting someone spawns 8 police officers on top of you and insta kills you. Textures pop in and out and people are just as bad. Crafting bugs all over the place where you diassemble but it doesn't actually do so but it gives you crafting XP. Even with the fixes to crashes and bugs there still remains the lacklustre combat and shoddy AI. The story itself feels okay with the main characters and no doubt the voicing had special attention put into it. The combat feels clunky and lacklustre although concessions could be made as its an RPG. The game itself has been conceptionally started 8 years ago and pre production started in 2015 (Not 100% sure on that one) which gave me faith in preordering. GOG's track record with Witcher 3 enticed me to support. This game should not have released for at least another 6 months until the game breaking bugs were squashed, optimisations across the board should have happened before release instead of afterwards. I've tried to update to 1.04 and the installer itself keeps on trying to modify files and says it can't. I've checked the forums with others that have the same problem but with no solution. I've installed Nvidia drivers and optimised my rig as best as I could for the game but it doesnt change the other problems. I've requested a refund as per GOG's policy. Never preorder a game no matter how much hype gets thrown in. Cyberpunk may be a great game in 6 months with the right patches and changes but for now its broken, uninspired and grindy asides from the main story (I got to meeting Takemura before I gave up from broken bugs.) Long and short of it. Do not buy now, riddled with bugs. Wait 6 months and see if its good.
