Cyberpunk 2077

I love what CDPR stand for, and I love the Witcher games. I was so looking forward to this as it seemed like it had so much potential. The release has a tonne of bugs and the game was released early, but those problems are things easily fixed. Less fixable however is that there's not really much game under the graphical glitz. It doesn't feel like the bugfixes will take a mediocre game and make it worthwhile. Crowds are just automatons walking set routes on rails. Shops with open signs have locked doors. There's all this space but nothing really happening in it, any sense of a real world swiftly destroyed as soon as you realise that none of it is interactive and none of it has any kind of AI driving it. The game is undeniably pretty, and it has that Blade Runner vibe. The Brain Dance is a wonderful extension of the photo magic from Blade Runner too. The problem is that outside of that it's all a bit 'so what'.

Months of delays, shady review practices, and most importantly the unending crunch of the workers, all to produce a rushed unfinished product? Should have waited longer and took the time neccesary, and TREATED YOUR WORKERS BETTER. 1/5 until the pull a "No Mans Sky" and provide extreme levels of quality fixes and content (not just bug fixes). THE #1 promise over the past few years was Immersion. This game has failed to provide a living city.

The game gets disappointing really fast. The quality is nowhere near the final product. Story is enjoyable but everything else is clunky and broken in some way. From main menu to driving around it feels somehow rushed and unfinished. I get constant bugs when switching equipment, dialogues cut in the middle, there are missing sounds, missing props (e.g. guy taking selfie without a phone), stuck npc, broken/stupid AI, driving not even close to this from GTA...you get my point. This title needs serious work...shame on me for getting hyped and trusting CDR enough to preorder the game, not to mention this bloody tshirt ;)

There are three fronts witch this game doesn't fill the promise the publisher made: 1- Technical Issues - Unless you have a god pc (even) you will run to performance problems. 2- AI Issues - This game doesn't have individual AI, in fact looks like a step back from Witcher 3 on this regard. 3- Design Decisions - This was advertised earlier as a RPG, put it is a pure action game with some decisions and rpg elements infused into it. The driving, the cars feels floating, it is a pain to turn, and the minimap is too close for comfort, given this is a futurist game, i don't see why we don't have the way-point projected on the street trough our eye sensors. It is a good game? yes, tha'ts way it has 3 stars from me. It is a finished game? No, on a technical stand point and bugs, it is still very much unpolished. Given CDPR track record, launch issues aside, i expect they will fix most if not all technical issues on PC ( last gen consoles i'm not so confident). I hope they will improve the AI, and NPC teleportation. But i don't expect any change on design decisions. TLDR: Wait to Buy or Wait to Play.

I can feel that this game was made with passion. The story is great, the music amazing, but the final product needed a lot more time before it could be released. Yeah, we all know about the bugs and graphical glitches, but they are just one of the problems. There are some choices made by developers which I can't understand and think weren't thought through entirely: - The city looks great, but the role-play experience is shallow as hell. The AI of NPCs is dumb and interaction with them is minimalistic. Drivers don't know how to go around obstacles and would halt the traffc for no reason; There are plenty of shops scattered around the city but most of them are just decoration and realistically you can interact with few. (Seriously it's not a 2000's game!) - Character customisation: really what's the point. You can customize your genitals but you cannot even see your weenie while playing (it's covered with pants). NPCs don't even react if you are walking naked - The UI and inventory is a mess. The font is too dark and and the letters too small, so I can't even read what gun I have just picked up. Also there is just too much loot in my opinion, making the inventory even a bigger mess. - Why clothing has no impact on the reputation? I think CDPR mentioned that it would but I'm not 100% sure. Even if they didn't, it would still make sense to put it in the game. Now you can dress like a clown and have no consequences to the reputation.. Btw you can put on a T-shirt which has more armor than a leather jacket which is ridiculous. - Police system sucks: CDPR promised a deep 'wanted' system and mercenaries but they didn't deliver. It's as shallow as possible. Now despite the above I'm still having fun, and the story keeps me going. It's however a step back from Witcher 3. I'm giving the game 3/5, but realistically, without the bugs the game is still 4/5 because of undelivered promises.
