Clumsy, blurry, buggy
Played a few hours now, having waited for the big 1.5 hotfix patches and a sale before purchase - and can honestly say i dont want to put any more effort into this game or the story - even at a sale price. The game looks horrible on my 1080TI compared to so many other current games i own. I could understand the performance hit if it looked incredible but was a low frame rate - but it really doesnt. Its less impressive than FALLOUT4 Its blurry and dull looking but runs terribly. The Witcher games looked way better than this. I turned off motion blur and the graphics became unbearable to look at when turning. Its all sharp and choppy everywhere when turning. I've not had game breaking bugs (yet - not played far enough into story) but almost every street has people floating in mid air, T POSING, grilled food floating down the street and I even got knocked down by a car that wasnt visible? It feels like an on rails shooter not an RPG. Go here - do thing - go here - do thing. I didnt feel any freedom to explore as the city is just boring to explore, and nowhere is accessible - a thousand doors you cant open, and depressing people you cant talk to. (like GTA4/5 except this is supposed to be an open world RPG? isnt it?) The RPG ideas are there and there is a lot of variety in crafting and upgrades etc, which most likely come directly from the tabletop RPG itself, unfortunately the gameplay here isnt fun (to me) and doesnt really execute the ideas in practice. It's so awkward to hack things in combat so you end up just duck cover shooting at every fight - with the odd optic hack thrown in. Having to hold the key to execute whilst also trying to set up a shot is just daft. Such a shame as it did look really promising - and im a huge fan of the Witcher Series / CDPR. but i certianly wish I had saved my pennies now!
