Crysis®

On 2 different computers the program starts but then closes back to desktop

Bought this game expecting a playable copy of Crysis. Got the game but not playable. It keeps Crashing upon launch. Don't know if this is compatible with Windows 11. Please fix!

Crysis in and of itself is a pretty great game with tech and ideas ahead of its time. The main star of the show is the Nanosuit and how it augments your agility, strength, endurance, and a light-bending cloak system that gives you the ability to reenact 90% of the scenes in Predator. What's not to love? Even when the game is at its worst with linearity and vehicles, it's still a game worth playing even today. The GOG version is the best version of Crysis to date, doubly so since it bundles the x64 binaries and doesn't have any outdated DRM. I had Crysis 1 and Warhead on Steam since last year or so but it became increasingly harder to run them both at a reasonable preset, eventually culminating in both stopping working altogether. The GOG verisons of both Crysis 1 and Warhead do not suffer from any of that. Oh and you can use it as a benchmark, that's probably important.

Some story spoilers will be mentioned. Vague but still spoilers. not as good as the hype surrounding it was. I played this since the very first release on PC. Visually very good, sound too. The shooting mechanics are not the best for me. There is something that I can't explain, but, it just doesn't feel as good, as satisfying, as other games released around that time, for example Rainbow Six Vegas. I am not saying the game is bad. Far from it. The story is a mix of "modern day"/alternative reality with a small touch at first of sci-fi, turning into full on sci-fi later on. I have to say, as a fan of sci-fi (half of my movies are sci-fi), I enjoyed the story. It was well presented and a lot of fun to play through. Any negative points I have about the game have to do with parts of the non sci-fi story and enemies, plus a couple of bugs that the last time I played this game (a couple of years ago) were still in place. For example at one point in the first 1/3 of the game, you get to have a "mission" in a village where you face enemy armor. TWICE (different installations) I had to repeat this hard mission/objective (if you don't play on easy), because the game decided to not technically save the game after I finished it. TWICE. Fair enough, this particular bug only appeared in this section of the game, but it was still very annoying. A part that I call the BS difficulty of FPS of the time, when you are under attack by enemy helicopters. Other FPS games of the time used to have something similar. The type of mission where the enemy magic detection that can sense where you are and hit you with any bullets they desire regardless of anything that makes sense. Again this is thankfully just one relatively small part of the game, but annoying it is. For every negative thing about this game there are several more positive ones. It is a fun fps game, which modern PCs can run it just fine. If you like sci-fi and/or modern setting for your FPS, this is a must.

Best version of Crysis is here on GOG. After 12 years it still has better graphics than most AAA games. I guess thats what happens when you make a game only for PC. Gameplay is good i really liked it back then and i like it now,the levels are linear but they are large they give you the impression its an open world game but its not. You can deal with the objectives in many different ways like if you want to approach stealthy using your suit powers from high ground or through the forest or you can go all guns blazing etc.
