Revival of old SNES JRPGs!
I just completed the game and it was a lot of fun! I - as a person how grew up with the old Nintendo and Sega consoles - enjoyed this game really much. It has all the things I like about old JRPGs like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger etc. and adds modern elements to it. Everyone who likes named JRPGs should really check this game out. It is lovely designed, has very likable characters, challenging puzzles and a good story with a plot twist in the middle and a beautiful ending. There are even a lot of treasures and interesting quests to find. The quest design is also very great and diverse. The combat is very balanced and fun! No button smashing and rock/paper/scissors principal. Conclusion: Everything you need! The only thing I have to criticize is the aiming with the XBOX Controller. You aim with the right analog stick and unfortunately the aim position seem to lock every 45°. This is really troublesome when you need to aim in between during fast combat or time limited puzzles. I had to switch to mouse at some points to be able to aim fast and precise. What some players might want to know: I needed some time to get used to all the mechanics and the crafting system at first. It has a lot of mechanics. You have to try everything out and after a while you get used to everything and later on everything becomes second nature. The game also explains every new skill and mechanic at an appropriate time - with the option to reread and redo every tutorial. Very convenient! Backtracking and grinding makes also a small part of the game. You don't have to grind - which is nice - but makes things a little easier ;) The game is nearly perfect for me. I really wish I could give 5 stars - but I have to give very honest 4,9 stars due to the controller issue!

Heavily biased opinions are not biased..
Best game ever made. Ever! [nods] Disclaimer: heavily biased opinion based on 22 hours gameplay and after completing a really fun quest Critique responsibly they say... Give specific details as to why you like the game they say... WHATS NOT TO LIKE??? The game is an awesome tribute to the SNES era of JRPG gaming GOD-ness (like crono trigger) the music is excellent whether its a normal battle / boss battle or a new area or whatever it really makes you feeeel geuuud xD. The "parkour" aspect of the game I found particulary interesting where you run and jump from places of different heights and angles (there are timed quests as well) to get a reward or reach a new area, at first you feel like a big clutz but with time and experience you start getting quite good at it and you feel a nice flow exploring dungeons and fighting in different areas... the combat mechanics are pretty straightforward and its fun trying new skills and getting powered up and smashing enemies that were difficult to handle not too long ago... and of course there's your party members to help you out as well ;) But for me the most amazing thing about the game is its atmosphere, the story and the conversations with the different party member's, NPC's and what have you... I really enjoyed tackling most of the quests for the sheer fun of the story and outcome of each one... The speech limitation of the protagonist is very well written into the story and makes for some awesome as well as hilarious moments... I cannot describe how well done this is... really hats off to the developers that were able to write such a good script and make this single player MMO world so believable... Ultimately Cross Code is not only a fun and extremely well executed game made by people who clearly love what they are doing... it's a beautiful world that you really enjoy being in and that's not something that you can honestly say about many games out there. I promise you that this is the best single-player MMO ever made!

not controller friendly
I personally do not like KB/M for games like this. controller support for crosscode is terrible. Every few months I open it up again to see if it's been fixed, but every time it starts to glitch after a while. the input gets pinned to the right. it is a shame.
