Mediocre Gameplay
It's a painfully mediocre and repetitive third-person shooter with some light RPG elements (that are pointless linear progression, and were clearly mandated by a suit because 'RPG mechanics are in right now'), pointless weapon and personal modifications to randomly loot or craft (randomized loot? crafting? Suitman mandates it again! Just stack damage and health), AAA-style vaseline smear graphics (I had to use mods to fix that and the flat textures). The game does ooze atmosphere and the story is interesting... but it's a video GAME - the mechanics need to take precendence, since interactivity is the hallmark of this medium. The game's mechanics are a great reminder why I haven't bothered with AAA for years now - this would have been better served as a Quantic Dream-style movie game where you push a button sometimes.
