Constructor Classic 1997

First played this game at a friend's house in 1997 - have still never mastered it, just an all in all fun title.

I owned this game back on Playstation 1 as a young teen, and it's every bit as challenging and fun as I remember. Even on Easy against the CPU it can be a real struggle to not get fired. I'm currently getting to grips with some solo free play, even then you can still get fired.

After being reminded of this game I had to check if it was available on GOG as we know this is the best place for working versions of old games. Runs perfectly on Windows 11 in DOSBox, obviously the small resolution shows when blown up to full screen but it's the old game exactly how it was. It's a difficult builder/god game where you manage the constant problems of your own tenants and council as well as the bad intentions of your local property developers. The Humour is very much in the vein of Theme Hospital and British self deprication in general. The UI is out-dated and awkward and the game very much does not hold your hand with information on what to do next. You'll find yourself spending hours just learning how to play the game rather than trying to outwit the computer in any way. But that's all part of the old-school difficulty fun!

After many years... the game still can get you for hours! Cant wait till HD version come out - hope they fixed the control and made it a better gameplay (zoom out/move with mouse). Downloaded it 2 hours ago and went straight to 3ai easy mode... after 90 minutes I was out cold (park pond got to it few seconds too late) :D But had 3 gangsters with handguns wacking every thug/hippie/thief out and 2 police patrols :D
