Classic old Sierra adventure!
Man, I love this game! Glad to see it picked up by GOG and hope the rest of the other miscellaneous Sierra titles also get added. To add to these other reviews, don't think you'll make it to the end of this game without using a walkthrough. This game is tough! Don't let that dismay you, this was Sierra in its golden age.

The winning formula gone wrong
Jim Walls has always been very bad at crafting stories, but two of his three Police Quest games were fun to play. Having become more sophisticated with PQ2, he embarked on this tour de force, upgrading from law enforcement to espionage. Always with an eye on following procedures, which in this case seems to mean that in effect you have to re-type in the parser the whole manual at various points. While I'm a huge Sierra fan from its time, I see no reason to play this unfairly unforgiving, way too frustrating game ever again. Everything here is very dated - on most Sierra games this adds an endearing quality to them, but not on this one. As with virtually all other games that offered a mix of adventure and simulator, this one falls very flat, none of the ingredients are very good. Buy any other Sierra game, this is easily one of the very worst. The only good thing about this? If relatively obscure games by Sierra keep on being slowly re-released, maybe one day we'll get to Conquests of Camelot and Conquests of the Longbow by the great, underrated Christy Marx.

A good game from a different time
First off i get it, this game is one trap after another, but that was the idea behind a lot of sierra games. Is there entertainment? maybe kinda. Are the traps going to force you to start over many times? yeah. Everyone like to put this game side by side with Quest for glory, Police Quest, and Space Quest, and its just not like those game, Its Kings Quest but instead of fairy tale knowledge to beat it, you need to go through the documents provided with the game. Always read everything, and write down importaint information. Figuring out the traps was the best part, especially becuase my joy was always mixed with a bit of spite. Me and my older sister played this game when it was new(wish the PC speaker setting worked better) and i think thats the way to play this game and most of the kings quest games, with someone. SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN, AND DONT SAVE OVER OLD SAVES UNLESS YOU HIT A TRAP

Happy accident
Got it accidentally when I was 10yo. I had asked for Monkey Island but got this instead. It was tough but managed to finish it without any help, cheats, walkthrough. Still remember it as one of the best adventure games I have played and still remember the section with the submarine as one of the toughest. I did it as a 10yo, so how hard could it be after all? I will try again and see for myself xD I highly recommend it, if you like adventure games of that era.
