I eventually really enjoyed it
Still holds up well and reminded me of how much I enjoyed Ceaser and Pharo originally. I ended up playing all the way through the campaign mode. That's quite a few missions. The early missions are very much basic tutorials. The later missions get quite difficult. Once past a certain stage you get a choice of two missions a level. One is more combat focused the other emphasizes the economy. So technically, I could go back and play the missions I missed. It isn't perfect though. The combat is still fairly annoying. It's very hard to properly control the troops and their path finding can be quite poor too. It can also be very challenging to meet all the demands per mission. You usually need to ignore Rome's early requests and avoid going into debt. There is a way to sort of cheat but I'll avoid spoilers. The main issue is it does sometimes feel more like a puzzle game rather than building a city but that's true of other city builders. Oh, and you might need to go online to find out details such as how many fields each farm should have. I now intend to build in the sandbox mode and make the city I want rather than what Rome wants. But overall I enjoyed it, it still looks nice, there are lots of nice touches (zoom in to idle workers) and I sank hours into it recently, so I recommend it. Original install issues below; 2 days now and still trying to install on my laptop. I have tried with Gog Galaxy and the direct installer. The direct installer did work but then as soon as Galaxy was reinstalled (did I mention I had to uninstall Galaxy, disable my anti-virus, firewall, etc) it tries to update itself, and.... yep refuses to install again. The problem is is seems to stall around the 70% mark, then, if you are lucky, will start again but painfully slowly. Then, if you are lucky, it will start to actually install (rather than download) and then it just hangs and crashes. I did get it to install on my PC but that also took many attempts and lots of patience. Just not worth the hassle. And in case you are wondering, I've not had any problems with other GOG games.
Hilft dir das weiter?
