A slight dissapointment

I've loved BS:TSOTT ever since I first played it in the mid 90's so I was all excited when I coulddownload it for basically no money at all. After a rather quick play through my emotions are kinda mixed. I am delighted the graphics haven't been improved, at least not so much one notices. I am dissapointed in the new puzzles that just get frustrating as it requires a sort of thinking that I, personally, don't like in the BS-games. I am also dissapointed in the way the rmake guides me to areas of interest. What I enjoyed the most in the original game (that is included in the purchase thank the saints) was to click on random objects and hear George say something witty about it. This is impossible now. I don't mind the added introduction with Nico per se, but when you get tired of the puzzles (the locks and the coded messages) and find a walkthrough there's something wrong. That's not what I'm after in a Broken Sword game, as been mentioned before. I also don't mind the little avatar like characther picture during conversations but it doesn't go with the story. Why not lip sync or at least add appropriate expressions? Now it's just a cosmetic change so that theplayers will notice that something is new. To sum it up, they've taken a classic and made it a little bit worse. Just a tad though and I was balancing between 4 or 5 stars. So even though I finally put 4 it actually means 4.5. And after all, you do get the original game aswell as some other goodies so I really shouldn't complain.

A bit short...

it took me 5 hours to beat this game. The story is interesting. The characters are moving a bit too slow imo. There are some challenging riddles in the game. I bought it in the bundle so I will expierence the whole story what I recommend to do. Because the broken sword games are till now a bit short. I played the 2nd game 2 hours an completed nearly 50% of the game. I dont think this game has any replay ability imo. Maybe if you forgot the story or want to play really badly a classic adventure. The game length could stretch a bit if you take yourself more time with the riddles not like me. I recommend this game for people who want to play an adventure game with an interesting story.

The best title in the series

This probably won't be much of a review, more of an advice. If you like quest games, you should definitely play this, but stay away from the sequels! The second one seems really rushed towards the end, the third one is actually quite okay if you get used to the 3D and console controls, and the fourth one is just so bad it hurts. Don't go anywhere near it. The original title is absolutely great though.

Seminal adventure that holds up

I played the included classic version, not the remake, so I can't say much about that. What I did play was a gorgeous and charming and surreal adventure suffused with wacky British wit. It's about a clueless American patent lawyer on vacation in Paris who gets wrapped up in an insane Illuminati conspiracy. Famous for it's ball-crushingly cruel goat puzzle. Look up that ungodly bastard in a walkthrough, but please solve the rest on your own.

Downright Delightful

Based on other reviews, I downloaded and played the original version of the game, not the remaster. This review is based on that. I'll start with the negatives: 1. Music. This game makes poor use of background music. As in, every once and a while, a scene will have some background music. Otherwise you're walking around the majority of this game in relative quiet. They lost an opportunity for increasing the immersiveness of this game here. 2. Speed. The game just takes forever to move around places. Your character is about the slowest walker on the planet, with no way to speed him up... and he has to walk around EVERYWHERE. Its a bit frustrating. 3. Graphics. I wasn't a fan of the Disney/Cartoony Graphics. I prefer attempts at more realisim. Just my personal taste here. 4. Ending. It doesn't really have any concluding scenes. The game just kind of ends suddenly on you. And... that's it. After those four points, this game was perfect. The entire world was just very immersive and pulls you in. The story line was engaging and continually leaves you wanting to know what happens next. The characters were thoroughly developed, allowing you to connect with them. The world unfolded in a very well-planned manner, where there was always something new to explore, but you never felt overwhelmed by everything at once. The puzzles were challenging but manageable, and only once required exhaustive clicking. No, it wasn't the infamous goat puzzle, which I found greatly exaggerated in difficulty [solved in about 10 minutes]. The harder puzzle was what to do with a dirty bar of soap. I don't know what more I can say... I loved this game. I'm picky what ever gets 5 stars, and this got it. Highly recommend.
