In the years between the World Wars, Agent BloodRayne works as a killing machine for The Brimstone Society – a top secret fraternity that hunts down and destroys supernatural threats. Two missions, five years apart, turn out to be connected by one man. For years, this man has been searching the world for powerful occult relics to bring about a new age of domination for the Third Reich. In this frenetic and bloody third-person shooter that unleashed the iconic red-headed femme fatale on the world, the dhampir Rayne faces horrific creatures, hordes of soldiers with an array of tools and firepower, and every Nazi officer that stands between her and the one she must stop.

Just old, fun BloodRayne with minor tweaks. Dont expect miracles, this is still the same lovely, rough game. The most important thing: it finally works properly in 60 fps (outside the cutscenes) which already makes it superior to the original. If you seek ready to play version of this game without any annoyances - this is it!
The only minus is the introduction of weird "censorship" in the first act. They made all ghouls and mutants green. The rest is still gory as f***, so I really dont get that change...
I can't believe that this is free for original owners, with this version you just install and play, no tinkering required.
I highly recommend both games.
So first of all, let me preface this by saying I did not grow up with the Bloodrayne games, but as a kid it was hard to forget seeing something like Bloodrayne on those review shows on TV. Cut to 2020, and by complete chance, I saw that these remasters might be a good chance to finally experience the game for myself. My god, I was not expecting something that just kept pushing me to go crazy and have some fun! The combat is admitedly not very deep, there's no blocking whatsoever, and it's not particularly difficult (save for a couple bosses) but there's just something so satisfying about cutting entire groups of enemies to ribbons (the gore is fantastic, and the carnage doesn't disappear so you can take some time to look upon your work) and feeding on the last one. Did I mention there's unlimited bullet time? Because there's unlimited bullet time and watching all the bodies fly around you as you cut them apart with your blades or your guns does not get old. While the game isn't exactly Max Payne, there is plenty of room for self expression in combat, with my personal favourite being to activate slo-mo, super jump across a large pit while gunning down some poor sods on the other side and watch Rayne land gracefully with a roll.
Now, as for the atmosphere, it knows exactly what it is. It's a leather-fetish clad, cheesy grindhouse film that revels in the blood-soaked violence and sexy overtones, in fact, if I had to describe this game in a few words it would definitely be "sex and violence". The dialogue, cutscene direction, even the cheatcodes are totally unapolagetic about what it is, and it's clear that the developers put a lot of love into it. I was saddened to read about what happened to Terminal Reality in the proceeding years.
Despite some of the faults I listed earlier, I'm giving this a 5/5 to show my support for the possible return of this franchise and if you were a curious kid like me, you owe it to yourself to experience this awesome game. Rayne is bae.
The pros: This is the same great game which has been fixed to run on modern systems at high resolutions (defaults to 1080P). There's an option for antialiasing of 1x, 2x and 4x. I selected 4x and didn't notice much of a difference to be honest. This game also fixes the issues with multimonitor setups and you can now select which monitor you wish to use to play the game and your mouse won't wander out from it (you can tap WinKey to move outside of the monitor if needed though).
The reflections are fixed in this so they line up with what they are reflecting.
If you have a custom skin you like to use in the game for your character, it will still work. Old saved games can also be copied over to this one (the saved games and settings are in your Documents folder, in a BloodRayne1 folder, just copy your saved game from the old game to there and you're good to go).
The cons: Same as the pros, this is the same great game. If you were expecting more, like newer, better graphics, you'll be disappointed. This is basically a fix for all the problems running the original game, nothing new that I could see.
This is well worth getting as I love the game but, I was expecting more from this other than fixes to be honest. I give the game 5 stars, this fix 3 stars for only being a fix and nothing much more, so I went halfway and gave it 4.
From my inital testing, this is a very solid remaster.
On a GTX 1080 Ti in 1440p, with everything maxed and 4x anti-aliasing, it's a rock-solid 60fps and looks great. All the cheat codes from the original are still supported 100%.
The game itself is a delight if you enjoy playing a super-sexy half-vampire who takes out Nazis with guns, blades and fangs.
Also, Rayne is voiced by Laura Bailey. What more need be said?
