Blade Runner

High replayability and beautiful atmosphere. A must-have for any Blade Runner fan. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Still, there are 3 big issues I had with the game: 1) it's in real-time. As far as I can tell, this has no purpose than to make NPCs temporarily absent from rooms for seemingly no reason at all and with no consequence. It serves as an unnecessary inconvenience, forcing you to exit and re-enter until the NPC arbitrarily appears again for no reason. I wasted plenty of time running into "dead ends" only for me to return to the same spot later and find out that someone just wasn't there and reappeared later. And with a map this large, searching other avenues can waste a lot of time. 2) It doesn't really explain how to use the Voight Kampff machine at all. Sure, I understood what it does, but completing these sections was a question of picking choices at random. Doesn't explain the calibration or anything, and I had to look it up. 3) Knowing how to pick the proper dialogue choices was extremely limiting with only 1 word provided to describe each choice. Sometimes my character would go off on a tangent unrelated to the choice I picked. Characters can close off entirely if you pick the wrong choice. Picking dialogue options was often just crossing your fingers and hoping your character didn't say the wrong thing, or that the NPC would still be receptive to dialogue. Minor gripes: - No subtitles - There's a .....questionable ending with an underage character. But I'd like to assume that, with its ambiguity, it's implying the least repulsive behavior possible. - There's an Act where you're running into danger at random. The action is clunky and unnecessary, and sometimes nonsensical. However, most of the shooting done at other parts of this game works great. - There's a room where the character can't run? Not sure if this is just a bug with porting the game or what, but it was just a minor annoyance to slowly walk through this room each time I encountered it.

Even if i did not complete it yet, this is an experience ! Of course this game is showing its age. However, did it age like fine wine ? Absolutely As far as i went through the game, it is filled with plenty of good ideas, the scenario and game universe is brilliant. Speaking about game universe ... yeah you know it's blade runner ... Masterpiece of a universe indeed ^^ (see ya on the balcony gents, those who played it knows exactly which part of the game i'm talking about) On gameplay side, it's a story telling game but this one kind of lets you choose how you're going through it, even npcs are randomly assigned as replicants or humans (replayability : check). At the end of the day, awesome -immersive- game in a somwhat 'familiar' universe ... Would give it a loving it out of nothing, we're not giving games any mark here :D

Blade Runner was the first “adult” game I ever played. It was in early 1997 on an older friend’s PC - and I was instantly hooked! As an 11 years-old who came from SNES and Star Wars this was a revelation: realistic graphics, a dark sci-fi story, complex choices. I knew this was my kind of games from now on. Fast forward a few years to ca 2000: in a bookshop I stumbled upon a vanilla copy of the game. I got it for exactly 10 DM, rushed home, marveled at the 4(?) CDs it took to get it installed, and ran my first “full” playthrough. A couple more followed over the years. Although I haven’t touched the game in quite some time, it’s still on my bookshelf (one of the few games that survived my move to digital). A few years ago I read that Blade Runner might never get published in digital form, since the master CDs are supposedly gone, and IP rights very muddy. Imagine my surprise today when GOG notified me of this release. It was an instant buy of course! Now to the game: There are better reviews in this board, but let me just say that I consider this a masterpiece. One of the “games to play before you die”. It’s dense, atmospheric, chaotic, technologically innovative for its time — and a labor of love. You can feel how much passion the devs had when they worked on this game. Go buy this game, even if you start it up just once. It needs to be experienced, this is PC games canon!

You People Wouldn't Believe ... and that is Blade Runner from Westwood appearing on GOG. Hands down one of the best movie adaptations of all time and one classic adventure game. They did pretty much everything right, hit all the right notes to reach the level of atmosphere the movie had. This is a true classic of the 90s. If you are a fan of the movie, there is no question nor doubt here, BUY THIS NOW !!

You are in for a hell of a ride. This game is perfection. It says that it is point and click game...it is not. It is a blade runner simulator. Forget about : I have not found the thing so I need to pixel hunt or How do you solve this riddle. No, this is investigation. There are multiple ways to find clues (and miss them) multiple ways to interrogate people, many different endings but wait...CAUSE IT GETS BETTER! Each play will be different because different people will be replicants which will lead to different situations. I have never played a game made with so much heart and dedication, if you like any kind of detective mysteries it is not even a question. Is download finished? Good. Have a blast. Be careful not to retire any humans...
