If you like FPS, you should play it
I like this game very much, especially because you have variety of weapons (with variety of ammo for weapons) and powers (plasmids) for combat, many of them useful for an aggressive combat style which I prefer. The level design is really good, I like that you have a map and the exploration searching for secrets is interesting. The game is a FPS with RPG elements, you collect ammo, medkits, money for buying ammo and medkits etc., and materials to create ammo and some tonics. There are machines for buying or crafting that you can hack for lower prices with a pipe puzzle minigame (you can also hack robots to make them allies). You have limitations for carrying money, each type of ammo and materials, in some type of ammo it feels that the carrying capacity is very limited. You upgrade weapons, and also the damage to some enemies (when you take photographs of them). You use plasmids as active powers to shoot at enemies or sometimes use in environment. You have tonics for passive abilities. To acquire or upgrade them you require adam, which is limited (you never acquire everything). And you have to make decisions based on this resource limitation. The problems are the following: the game frequently closes, and the worst is that i have to configure my personal key-bindings again every times it crashes. I heard in the remastered version it also happens and in Bioshock 2 is maybe worse. Hence, you have to save really frequently. Other problems is that is somewhat difficult to order plasmids for your keybinds, so I had to reorder them in sequence every time I upgrade one. The only problem of the shooting gameplay is that it feels somewhat slow. You move slow, you recharge or change type of ammo very slow, the enemies die slow (especially the normal enemies in the last levels, even though with all the upgrades). And they also kill you slow (except for rossies who hit very hard). So, I normally took photographs when they were attacking me with no problem.

Buy this version!
Finally, a PC port of Bioshock that actually works properly! Unfortunately I purchaced this game on Steam and that version left me stuck with a remastered port that constantly crashed as the original game, which has much better lighting and atmosphere was almost impossible to run on a windows 10 computer and no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get it to run. I decided to risk it an purchase it here and absolutely no such issues, it works as soon as you install it and of course it comes with the added bonus of owning the game without the DRM. The game is a masterpiece and one of my favourite first person shooters of all time and despite it being more than a decade old still looks amazing because the art direction and style alone is timeless. It's a strange time for gaming when I feel the need to give a game a glowing review for working properly, but thats 2021 for you.

Amazing Game; Annoying Setup
First, I'd give this a 5-star rating everyday of the week if not for some of the setup issues. The atmosphere is tense and makes you want to turn it off, but the powerful story, well-designed characters, and excellent pacing keep you moving forward. The combat functions well; even if it's not on par with a modern twitch shooter, its slight clunkiness adds to the tension since you're not really able to run through it DOOM style or anything. Speaking of combat, the balancing act that comes from mixing plasmid powers and firearms or melee adds a ton of room for creativity, and the game gives you plenty of hands-on lessons on how to get started combining the two for crazy effects, but it doesn't take away your room to find things out on your own or annoy you with tutorials that take you out of the game. They're introduced in natural ways. This goes for exploration, too. There is an objective arrow, but it turns off and sends you off on your own frequently. This forces you to explore and figure out what to do next, but for straightforward objectives, you're not left constantly backtracking or wasting time. Now for the bad. You must use the Win7 compatibility setting. I originally spent three hours trying to get my resolution to fit my screen, and when I would get that, it would crash. Then, audio didn't sync with the visuals when I finally got in-game. These issues were resolved once I switched the compatibility settings in "Properties". Alas, I did't attempt that until after I'd left it on my shelf for about 2 months out of frustration. Despite a poorly labeled requirement that should be an easy fix, having Bioshock DRM free is amazing, and it runs and looks even better than it did back on the Xbox. If you like horror, this is one of the few horror titles GOG offers that is a must-buy.

Classic version included
The most important thing is that the classic version is included. Because it's even better than the remaster. However, you have to adjust a few things manually that were not adjusted in the remaster.
