Battle Brothers is a turn based tactical RPG which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign. Do you have what it takes to lead them through bloody battles and to victory?
The game consists of a strategic worldmap and a tactical combat layer. On the worldmap you can freely travel in order to take contracts that earn you good coin, find places worth looting, enemies worth pursuing or towns to resupply and hire men at. This is also where you manage, level up and equip your Battle Brothers. Once you engage a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map where the actual fighting takes place as detailed turn based combat.
Manage a medieval mercenary company in a procedurally generated open world.
Fight complex turn-based tactical battles with historical equipment and brutal injuries.
Permadeath. All characters that die in combat will stay dead – unless they return as the undead.
All characters come with their own background stories and traits. Want a stuttering ratcatcher, a greedy witch hunter or a drunkard disowned noble?
Character development without a restrictive class-system. Each character gains experience through combat, can level up and acquire powerful perks.
Equipment that matters. Different weapons grant unique skills – split shields with axes, stun enemies with maces, form a spearwall with spears or crush armor with a warhammer.
Diverse enemy roster. All enemies have unique equipment, skills and AI behavior.
A dynamic event system with atmospheric encounters and tough decisions outside of combat.
Three late game crises – a war between noble houses, a greenskin invasion and an undead scourge – add a looming threat.
Two full hours of orchestral soundtrack.

If you like a tough game that challenges you at every step, look no further. It can be a harsh game, unfair, more so than XCOM even. The AI cheats, and kills your men in ways that do not make sense. However any triumph no matter how small feels like a major victory, and I never get tired of unlocking an achievement, even when my company gets wiped in the process. If you are having trouble, there are many guides online: Youtube, Reddit, Wiki-Fandom has a lot of content for you. There is a build for you out there and a background you will prefer playing. It gets hard, even on easy mode. Just don't give up.
Eines der besten Strategie- und Management-Spiele, die ich je gespielt habe. Ihr baut euch eure eigene Söldnertruppe auf, die ihr in einer düsteren (Low)-Fantasy-Welt gegen Banditen, Orks, Untote und Bestien in die Schlacht führt. Ihr könnt Aufträge erledigen oder einfach in die Wildnis ziehen und Gegner in ihren Lagern angreifen. Dann neue Leute in Städten anheuern, aufleveln und besser ausrüsten. Bei ungefähr 12 unterschiedlichen Hintergründen mit denen ihr das Spiel starten könnt, sollte euch nicht so schnell langweilig werden. Ferner gibt es umfangreiche Möglichkeiten das Spiel zu modden (ich empfehle Filthy Robots Mods - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X1U9i8Bug6Mvj3lUfP45lFu6HTZMDXtAEZaq5iP0mlA/edit). Leider nicht in Deutsch und auch nicht besonders hübsch, sonst aber top.
PS: Kleiner Einsteiger-Tipp. Zu Beginn des Spiels solltet ihr nur Aufträge gegen Banditen annehmen, auf die Art und Weise bekommt ihr die Ausrüstung, die ihr braucht. Benutzt ggf. Messer/Dolche mit der Puncture-Fähigkeit um die Rüstungen zu bekommen, die ihr braucht.

Extremely replayable game. Simple turn based hex combat but so many variations on playing style that I never get bored. Not a ton of storyline/writing but what there is very well written and often funny. Music is good and doesn't get incredibly annoying like most games. Play ironman. You will lose a lot, get angry a lot and love it.
To those who get discouraged about making progress (longest time was day 22) there is so much to this game that it should be enjoyed instead of causing frustration because at the end of the day its just you, your mercs and the opportunites you can make.
Keep playing and it will click. Get all the DLCs if you can as they are worth it.
