An absolute masterpiece

I'm not much into open world games, but this one got me, I guess because the city is not that huge so you can actually take your time with it, admire the amount of detail that went in it, and enjoy it, and boy I did. I went genuinely addicted to it. It's just so much fun to complete the main mission, side missions, challenges and everything else. I've played it so many times already, but having it now on GoG, DRM Free, was such a cool surprise that I had to start it again... and I'm sure that if I ever get the PS4 remastered version, I will want to play it yet again... I simply can't get enough of it. Absolutely recommended!!

Fantastic sequel

Some people think that Arkham Asylum is better. Others think this (Arkham City) is better. In either case, this continues the legacy that Arkham Asylum brought, and improves upon those fundamentals to deliver another quality experience that Batman fans will greatly enjoy. If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum, you're gonna love this, so I highly recommend picking this up.

A very enjoyable game.

Regarding the guy that said a major bug prevented him from playing because he got stuck in a room: The gadget he was supposed to use has 2 firing modes. He used the wrong one because he didn't pay attention to the tutorial. This game is mad fun! It was great to play as the Batman and interact with his greatest enemies. Batman and Joker are voiced by the original actors from the animated series! The game is a substantial improvement over Arkham Asylum. Some say the story was better in that one, which it may have been, but the difference is barely noticeable for me, as none of the stories were mind-blowing anyway. They were both OK and both serve the same purpose: putting Batman in an environment filled with villains for him to fight. Apart from the story, everything is certainly better in this game, especially the combat, which is now it's a lot more fluid. The things which keep it from getting a 5/5 from me are the following: - There are a few out of character moments for Batman, though, like ripping the heart out of a bad guy just because he is technically not alive. A future game lets you know that he survived, but at that point I was like "Damn, what the fuck am I playing, Batman or Deadpool?" and immediately searched online to see if the guy survives. - The game is a console port and you can tell. It has a few control quirks specific to a less than stellar PC port, like the remote batarang controlling like shit and oversteering long after you stopped moving the mouse, and some unintuitive key bindings. The save system is pretty bad too in my opinion - the game does not auto-save when you quit the game (remember this is an open-world game), there's no option to manual save and if you get some collectibles and die, you gotta do it all over again. The best way to save is to go inside a building. Overall, a great purchase. Could have been legendary with a bit more work, but as it stands, it's the best Batman game ever made until 2022.

One of the Best Seventh Gen Titles

Rocksteady Studios were many things, but they were not content to rest on their laurels. The developers took every gameplay mechanic and feature of Arkham Asylum and found a way to elevate nearly all of them to the next level and beyond. Batman: Arkham City carries over the same combat system as its predecessor, only here it has been greatly expanded and refined, which basically means it's more fun than ever before. The stealth encounters are largely the same, though some additional challenges have been added here, such as enemies who can disrupt your arguably overpowered "Detective Vision." Instead of being trapped on an island and in a demented mental hospital, Batman is trapped inside a massive prison camp within a dilapidated section of Gotham City. The increased map size only adds to the Batman fantasy as you can now glide through the night and stalk the rooftops. If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum, then you are guaranteed to absolutely love this game!
