Ancient Celtic Monuments: Standing stones are, perhaps, the most mysterious wonders of the ancient world. There are still no satisfactory explanations as to what they are, how they were built, and who constructed them. A detailed, and spellbinding, story is woven through the very fabric of Barrow Hill, offering possible explanations, further mysteries and a chance to get beneath the surface of archaeology like no other game before it.
Dig deeper: Use real archaeological techniques, and practice, to unearth forgotten artefacts and delve into the Celtic legends which haunt the green lanes of the hill. Cornwall boasts itself as the home of many sorcerers, ancient kings and mythological characters. From the piskie folk of the hedgerows and clifftops to the beasts of Bodmin Moor. There isn't a corner of England's most western county that isn't rich in folklore, magic and danger!

Point and click horror game with creepy sound design and great atmosphere that doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares. I like the celtic lore and the live action/real photo style npcs that you talk to throughout the game. However, I had to rely on a guide to finish the game since there are hundreds of things to click and the game area is rather open from the get go so it is easy to get stuck in an area without knowing what to do. Some areas are pretty dark and very difficult to navigate since the game doesn't show you all the hotspots so its easy to miss them. There were times that I had no idea what I should be looking for. There are a ton of readings so taking notes or screenshots might be necessary at times.
Da ich schon viele Jahre Adventuregames oder Rätselspiele mag und auch die meinsten ohne einen Blick in die Komplettlösung geschafft habe, muss ich vor Barrow Hill meinen Hut ziehen.
Das Spiel hat es im positiven Sinne geschafft mich an den Rand der Verzweiflung zu bringen - vielleicht aber auch, weil eine zulange Spielpause zwischen den einzelnen Sessions mich etwas aus dem Inhalt gerissen hat.
Detailverliebt und mit knackigen Rätseln entführt einen dieses Spiel in eine mystische und unheimliche Gegend. Es gibt viel zu erkunden und viel zu entdecken - auch verschiedene Hilfsmittel werden benötigt, wenn man sie denn erstmal gefunden hat. Es gibt zwar keine 3D Rundum-Sicht, aber die Atmosphäre in diesem spiel ist derart dicht und stimmig, das stört nach ein bisschen Spielzeit nicht im Geringsten. Von mir klare fünf Sterne.
If you like first person point and clicks, don't pass this up. Had a few sticking points, but the atmosphere was top notch. This game has been living rent free in my mind ever since I first played it a couple of years back.
