I backed BS3 and I don't regret it

...not one bit. I decided to play the whole series from start to finish and every part flawlessly connected to the previous one, each time with some slight improvements and new interesting features. The combat got some additional elements, the story has plenty of twists and turns and making the "right" decision was harder than ever. Though the game is a little shorter than the other two parts, I can't complain about the length as it still took me a little less than 15 hrs to finish it and I also avoided a couple of fights. There are only a few things that weren't that great without having any impact on my overall experience though: The game never saved my language settings. I played it in English but on every launch it would always start in German by default. Another issue I have is with how the game treats the death of some heroes. Throughout the story you can get quite attached to your companions but should they die, it usually happens in an unspectacular fashion without ever getting mentioned again in any way, like they are just some random fighter you lost in a battle. The game was running smoothly. I only experienced one crash and that's something I can totally live with. All in all, a satisfying ending to a great series.

Grand finale, fails to tie up loose ends

In every aspect but the story, the Banner Saga games are almost identical. That isn’t a bad thing when it comes to the production values: The art is its evocative self, switching between the haunting woodcut-like rendering of the lands and detailed and expressive depictions of the characters during combat and conversation. The music beguiles with haunting horns and overall excellence. The dialogue is sharp and yet relatable, which is a hard needle to thread. Less welcome is the lack of evolution of the game systems. There are a few more options for character growth, but in the end those just add additional options to increase the very same attributes and hit chances. There is a new class of enemy, but they basically behave the same as the other enemies. The involved numbers become greater, but the game experience stays the same. Especially now that all three installments are easily accessible, it really feels like the Banner Saga is one whole. So is it worth sticking around through the whole saga? That question hinges on the story sticking the landing. Has the landing stuck? Mostly yes in my opinion. The End of the World is addressed, how well is dependent on your performance and decisions. The great mystery of how the Apocalypse started is explained. I’m not exactly happy with a few of the turns the story takes, but overall, the finale is well worth witnessing. Only… a few of the crucial details of the plot remain frustratingly vague, and not in an intentional way. To me it feels like the writers had lost sight of these details at some point. Still, if you have made it this far, you’ll want to get to the end, to see all the sights the saga has to show you. They are well worth the modest time investment the game asks of you. TLDR: If you’ve played and enjoyed the first and second Banner Saga, you owe it to yourself to experience the finale. Everybody else should start at the beginning or walk away.

Constant crashes are infuriating.

In my playthrough so far I have encountered over 20 crashes. In a game that has been out for so long this is not acceptable. This does seem to be very common and is not isolated to me or my specific set up. Story is passable. Gone is the sense of dread that permeates the 1st 2 Banner Sage titles, although that is understandable due to the need to complete the story. The revelations the 1st 2 titles have been building up regarding the valka climaxes in a rather limp fashion. Gameplay is larely the same from previous BS titles minus the travelling. Combat similar and lacking in depth compared to SPRG heavyweights. Would be 3 stars without the crashes.

Beautiful story but also short and buggy

Damn I dig the story and the suspense and imminent doom is very nicely told. Been sitting on the edge of my seat more than once. But also I have finished this game in 20h and was idling a lot of it. and each time I did play the game crashed about once every hour. Not that bad because there's always an autosave to resume never hat to do a battle twice, but it's just bad workmanship to release a game that crashes constantly :/ bittersweet I guess. -> wait for a big sale!

horribly crash prone bug riddled slop

even worse than BS1 and BS2 already where on the technical part, infinite loading loops, random crashes, corrupting save files, not remembering settings, so so much wrong with this mediocre slop franchise not making it worth it, go play the million of other RPGs, Visual Novels, Strategy Games out there, almost all of which will be better, should NOT support these Devs!
