Best thing to happen to gaming in years!

First of all, let me address my displeasure at having to stop playing to write this review! :) With that said, let me just say...WOW! I haven't been this excited about a game since Lords II was released in 1991! I have played all types of city-builders from the Anno series, SimCity, Empire Earth, Civilization, and more and none compare with this. What a breath of fresh air! The only "enemy" to fight is starvation and cold and unlike other "builders", you get to watch as your people gather materials and build their civilization...what a concept! And all this in a package less than 200MB! My hats off to the game's developer and my whole-hearted thanks for creating a game that's FUN to play! Oh, one final thought...how about a t-shirt to advertise this gem? I was thinking of something like "I was Banished at GOG.com" on the front with the Shining Rock Software logo on the back? I for one would LOVE to buy one...and lastly, don't buy this game on sale. The developer has both earned and deserves full price! Now, let me get back to my game!

The best city building sim there is..

I have enjoyed playing the SimCity series for years, but Banished knocks it out of the park! Beautiful graphics combined with an intuitive interface that is easy to manage and learn. While it is elementarily easy to grow your population in the SimCity series, this one is realistically challenging. If you overlook doing something it will really make you pay at some point in the game. The best part is that there is no money budget so no loans to get you out of and or possibly into greater trouble!

Sehr gute Simulation

Ich habe bereits einige Wirtschaftsimulationen gespielt und muss sagen Banished ist zwar deutlich kleiner aber mit viel mehr Liebe entwickelt. Alleine die Tatsache, dass man wirklich jeder einzelnen Person folgen kann finde ich Wahnsinnig gut. Die Menüs sind überraschend übersichtlich für soviel Text und durch die "gewürfelte" Landschaft ist das Aufbauen einer Stadt wirklich schön anspruchsvoll im Positiven Sinne. Natürlich gibt es aber auch kleinere Kritik Punkte. Hat man das Game ein paar Tage/Wochen (je nach dem Wie viel man am Tag spielt :-P ) gemeistert, sucht man immer mehr nach einer Langzeit beschäftigung. Hier fehlt leider noch etwas mehr Content. Da man aber hier gegenhalten kann, dass das Game im vergleich zu Anno usw deutlich günstiger ist kann ich dafür wirklich keinen Punkt abzug geben. Weiterhin gefällt es mir nicht ganz, dass die Minen endlich sind. Ja, dass ist wohl realistischer aber doch etwas nervend aber kein Drama. Insgesamt ein Sehr stimmiges Spiel was ich wirklich nur empfehlen kann wer auch Anno oder SimCity mag. Wenn man dann noch im Hinterkopf hat das es Primär nur 1 Entwickler gibt (so meine Info) sehr vorbildlich das Projekt.

Fun Little City Builder

Though not as deep as something like cities skylines, it is still good fun and the simplicity makes it easier for new players. The Colonial Charter mod makes the game even better by adding more buildings and jobs so I suggest downloading and setting that up. The game goes really cheap on sales so you can usually pick it up for a really good value.

The SIM You've Always Wanted

Imagine Sim City and The Settlers, combined. Two classics merged into one dreamy, well-polished and smart package. It doesn't get much better than this. The entire experience is smooth and well-produced. Lovely graphics, terrific performance and a smart, sophisticated UI make Banished among my new favorites. If SIMs are your thing, get this now.
