Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition

Do you see my playtime in this game? As of now it's above 7 hours. I've actually played the game for all of 5 Minutes. The rest has been trying to setup a multiplayer game with a buddy. Which we did, after a few hours, successfully do, only to find out whenever the non-host equipped any items on any character the game would crash! I was looking forward to enjoying an old classic. Unfortunately it seem the Enhanced Edition is a broken, buggy, and unplayable mess. How fortunate that the original isn't on available on GOG anymore, otherwise I'd recommend you buy that instead. Now I just recommend to find a hard-copy, or get it from somewhere else.

These games were a very important part of my childhood and playing these enhanced editions is like going back to the Mona Lisa to find somebody has covered it in crayon. The worst crime however is that it's no longer able to get access to the original authentic experience without buying this excuse for a cash grab. This is pure exploitation of the fan base and I think I'd rather never play the game again than give them a cent.

Play the original instead, preferably on a virtual machine. It does run for me under windows 11 though. The EE has been improved a lot but is still a degenerate way to experience the OG game. The new characters and kits from BG2 make the entire experience very unbalanced and easy to the point you NEED to install difficulty mods like scs for any challenge. Pray that GoG.com continues to include the original versions of the classic infinity engine games and we're all screwed. Beamdog are hacks.
