Flawed

I thought AC was the muttsnuts when I played it on Xbox360 back in 2007. And then I played AC2 on PC earlier this year and was blown away by how much better it was. I have just completed AC Brotherhood and was about to start Revelations but thought I would give the original another look as I got it on PC for pennies elsewhere. Its true this game is somewhat repetitive and could be seen as generally a boring grind at times compared to later iterations, though the gameplay seems more pure in a way, almost zen-like with a lot less distracions. It is just nowhere near as much fun or as engaging as what came after. What is incredibly dull and infernally annoying though is trying to quit the game - you have to do almost a dozen button presses to do it... PRESS PAUSE QUIT MEMORY QUIT ANIMUS... WANDER ROUND AIMLESSLY AS DESMOND Okay.... what now? (presses random buttons on gamepad) PRESS PAUSE AGAIN SELECT EXIT ARE YOU SURE? (yes I f*****ing am!!!) LOADING (eh? loading what?) PRESS ANY BUTTON SELECT YOUR PROFILE (honestly, just WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?) SELECT EXIT (please please please please) CRASH TO DESKTOP CORRUPTING SAVEGAME After that there Is just one more step.... UNINSTALL ASSASSIN'S CREED

Great Game

I played this many times on the xbox. The game doesnt recognize a xbox one wired controller. the trigger buttons does not work. It initially but not anymore for some reason. I personaly liked Altair. He started off a jerk but eventually grows in chracter. I thought the story was really cool and interesting. Climbing buildings and fighting guards is always fun. Overall a great game, I would reccommend it.

Good game, albeit a bit repetitive

I bought that game from a bargain bin a few years ago at a good price (8 euros) and played it. However I ieft it at some point and here's why: 1.First of all, the plot is bad. I mean, the main hero , Desmond, sits all day in a machine (the Animus, I know) and is a prisoner of Abstergo. A totally pathetic role.Plus I didn't like his character. 2.I preferred Altair, however I found him too obedient to his chief and having generally a lack of free thought. I didn't also like, while finding the stealth and killing quite to my fancy, the fact that I was being ordered to kill people I barely knew (I guess that's why the game tries to prove just how bad these guys, the assassination victims, are) 3.Also, the game after a point gets repetitive(in short, I got bored of constantly killing people) and it totally sucks that Altair can't swim (many times I drowned accidentally). Despite all these however, I fancied climbing on towers to watch down from there and saving people from the "bad" crusaders (After all, Altair is a faithful Muslim Arab and against the crusaders). In general, it's a game worth purchasing if you decide you don't care about the plot (which is very uninspired, to the point that I think that if that game was a book, it wouldn't sell well) and fancy being stealthy and touring the Holy Lands.

Fantastic Game

This game was amazing when it first came out. The graphics are pretty decent especially for being a 7 year old game. It has a great story behind it. The cities are huge and are a lot of fun to run throughout the cities. I started playing the series with AC3. It was a decent game and then I had bought black flag. I haven't gotten unity yet but out of the ones I have played nothing beats the 1st AC.

Can't get myself to play it through

I bought this during a sale because Assassin's Creed was said to be a milestone in action game design. I guess this is a console port. Every bit of it feels like a console game. * you are constantly told what to do, what button to press (serious games should teach you techniques and let you apply them yourself) * context sensitive movement looks great but it makes the controls feel squishy and the character looks clunky when he does not do what you expected * the menu speed is awfully slow; it takes like 5 minutes until you are actually in game * forces walking and unskippable dialogue in cutscenes * achievements and collectible-everything Do not get me wrong: Climbing towers, surveying the land and jumping down again is awesome. I just wished the game would empower me more and not hold or restrain my hand all the time.
