ARMA: Cold War Assault

Honestly its OK but I got it for free. I would never put money into it because its rather obsolete as we have more up to date games like ARMA 1 on this site. Its fine to go back to if you wanted to see how far the ARMA series has come but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it as the game is not pleasant to look at nor controls well. Its also lacking in content compared to other ARMA games. Just check out ARMA 1.

man this did not age well

This is combined package of older games. Since I never played before this year, I could not help but be highly critical of it. The idea as a military sim is great, controls are good and provide options for different stances, on foot and vehicle maneuvers. There are different modes and options customizable to how one wants to play. But the performance of this game is uneven. Framerate isn't at 60, graphics are terrible, and maps although huge aren't really varied and look same almost all over. This diminishes the quality of gameplay, the friendly AI and aircraft controls aren't good either. You get one save per mission, and the checkpoints don't really help as the complexity in an open map doesn't allow much precision in gameplay. This wasn't part of my nostalgia so I can't rate higher than what I felt. It isn't a completely bad game, it's just too outdated for me to enjoy.

WTF??? I hanged few graphical options in-game and now it not responding... Just freezes on first splash screen! ONe OF MY FAVOURITE GAMES FROM MY CHILDHOOD NOT WORKING!!!

I read some of the review, I know its an old game, and its a simulation, but at some point I waited so long for a mission to start it was ridiculous (even if I fastforward in time), it was not a fun experience at all
