American Conquest Fight Back: Three centuries of war continue with frantic combat and desperate power struggles raging across the American continent. The Spanish press the attack in the Yucatan against the fierce Maya and Aztec nations. The Germans put all their efforts into finding the legendary El Dorado. The Pontiac Uprising ends in a terrifying bloodbath between Native Americans and the British. And the Russians will do anything to conquer Alaska at the cost of the Haida. Lead armies of thousands of troops to victory in large-scale battles in 10 missions.
Both games are a real treat for any strategy fan. But this is not a standard RTS, there is no simple build-send-and-forget here because even the biggest army can be defeated by a well coordinated, but relatively small force. Just like the old proverb says: “An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.”

Compared to GSC's Cossacks this follow-on game aimed at the North American market introduces new concepts (morale and occupied buildings) that were absent in Cossacks. And the AI isn't as dumb - but that's partly also because the otherwise painful limitations of Cossacks' almost non-existent enemy AI (such as no proper/large battle formations of units in true co-ordination or tactics) are less apparent in this setting - especially if you play as a colonial power facing a lumpy stream of hordes of Indian tribal warriors trying to dislodge your fledgling community. The graphics are better than the original Cossacks too. It's not up to modern gaming standards (but then nor is the new Cossacks 3) but if you normally like this type of classic RTS, then get it while in a sale and you won't be dissappointed,
This is a very hard and unique real time strategy game. Eons away from AoE, this is a superior game in every aspect, and is way more difficult.
A game i would recommend to any RTS fan, it has a sadly accurate history context, graphics that hold up to this day and an incredible replay value.
Campaign missions can go from ten minutes to two hours of game and lose, and inevitably, you will try again because the game will hook you to do so.
Simply one of the best rts games on gog, but is missing one period called Divided Nations i wonder why we don't have it.
One of my favorite games, since i like huge battles and base building.
Compared to cossacks, nations are much more diverse and you accualy have to think, which unit tipe is best agains different nation.
This game has a lot of issues too. Compared to cossacks, this game is incredibly sluggish.
Getting cannons and ships to position is painfully slow process. Since most buildings are stuffed with defenders, destroying enemy base without them is frustrating.
I recommend it, only if you have plenty of time and patience, or just want to have fun with huge battles.
If you use a squadron of frigates to control the seas, be absolutely sure you have at least three fully upgraded iron and coalmines. You've been warned : )
Tried running it under compatibility mode or using the community fix, and it didn't work.
Got it on a deep discount, so my entire issue is the fact that they are selling an unplayable/broken game.
