HOW?!?!!?
Every single other game I've ever seen or heard of, that has a random map generator, and a map editor...Has both of them able to work with each other.... Why did they even give us a map editor if the map starts blank? It could take forever to make a map from scratch! That's one of the most important features. Why even give us so many campaigns, classes, and units; if we can't even edit random maps or generate random maps in the editor? I am...How?!?!?! Why?!?! Why give us all of these things and not this highly important feature? Are they new to the whole entire genre of game? Have they never played an RTS with a map editor in their lives? I want to go back to playing the first AOW or get the second one, just because of this!

What a mess
To start it demands an on line account with a verified email. It's not smart enough to know that test@example.com is a fake address and it shouldn't be sending stuff there. The online account isn't technically mandatory, you can play as "guest". There are a few catches, as "guest" you don't get the DLC you paid for and you can't save settings. If you have a reasonably large monitor saving settings would be nice, playing at the default resolution leaves lots of black rectangles all over your screen. So sadly Triumph goes on the list of people I'll never buy another game from. What's worse, GoG is no longer a place I can buy games without worrying about DRM. And yes, mandatory online accounts are a form of DRM.

DRM and Gameplay
First, this game is not DRM free.. They say it is, but if you want to do anything other then basics then you are going to have to log-in. So despite their clams there is really no difference between buying it here or on Steam. There is guest (offline).. That won't let you save, change settings, or really do much of anything. So if you don't have a good internet connection or are tired of DRM being forced on you.. Skip this game.

Not impressed
I played AOWI and AOWII and also AOWII-SM. I have played AOWII and AOWII-SM many times and finished it many times and play it even now since its release. Therefore I had high hopes for this game. What I liked about AOWII and AOWII-SM was the fantasy world it created with so many races, so many spells to research, a not so bad story line. It looked and played well. Coming to the AOWIII, the first thing I noticed was the absence of a cinematic. How could they not have done it? Oh well anyway, moving to the game play, while it has evolved and become more like Civilizations, I think it has been utterly ruined. Other people may differ from in opinion. OK, I only played some bit of the first mission and am writing this review. We not have parties of soldiers in this game rather than 1 soldier per slot. This is OK but the fighting progresses differently now. It is not possible for someone to miss an attack. I have a high end gaming machine and the game still does not run optimally on it, it kind of slows down from time to time even on low graphics. By slow I mean the frame rate drops. I have not found this game satisfactory and think have wasted the money on it.
