Nice ideas ...but

This game is no adventure game as such, not a real puzzle game, to me it seems like a 'proof of concept' type game where the developers are showing there ability to put together a game with interesting ideas (some borrowed i dare say, but still nice). Good Parts: - if you like games that don't require much effort its one of them. - the art is really nice, colorful and vibrant and quite beautiful. - the story isn't bad if you read it. - the music is supposed to be relaxing, and it does that. - this is more of a 'basic' kids game, totally kid friendly even down to the puzzles. - flying is quite fun (shame i can't turn into more creatures). - the 'memories' add well to the story and show many events of the past. Bad Parts: - No humor/side-quests/voice acting/no interactions with anything/Nothing to attack/No chests or quest given items/Nothing hidden. - Quest places seem a little here n there so finding them can get a little annoying at times. - Character movement gets a little annoying as its like driving a car at times when they skid to a halt. Im hoping for a 2nd but this time much much better now we know what the Dev team can do.. i want to see this game with hidden stuff/enemies/harder puzzles/a reason to travel the world/side quests/side games or mini-games/interaction/humor/shops/a world like 'shadow of the colossus' but darker in battles n story but with two player mode n more stuff in the worlds, things to save maybe n maybe a few endings. Maybe this game can lead onto another story?. Worth buying?... Yes if you want a game that has very simple puzzles and like just wasting time flying around. No if you want an adventure game with puzzles that are a little challenging.

Himmelsinseln als Vogelwandler erkunden.

Ein Erkundungsspiel mit einigen Rätsel, die für Rätselanfänger gedacht sind (wirklich sehr leicht). Man bewegt sich zu Fuß, oder fliegend als großer Vogel fort und erkundet so die im Himmel schwebenden Inseln und die Höhlen und Schreine die diese aufweisen können. Man spielt als die junge Frau Auk, die eine Vogelwandlerin ist. Das schnelle Verwandeln zum Vogel und zurück und die sich daraus ergebenen Fortbewegungsarten, machen sehr viel Spaß. Fliegt man durch Wolken, so reißt man einen Tunnel in diese, während ein fast donnerndes Rauschen einsetzt. Auk fängt sich mit einem leichten Schweber vor potentiell schädlichen Stürzen, kurz oberhalb des Bodens ab (wie ein Vogel der vor dem landen noch einmal kurz mit den Flügeln schlägt). Hierdurch kann man dynamische Landemanöver hinlegen. Es gibt spezielle Luftströme, die einem einen Geschwindigkeitsschub geben wenn man sie nutzt. Die Steuerung des Fliegen ist einfach aber perfekt, bei Gamepadsteuerung kann sich mit dem linken Stick auf und ab neigen und scharf nach rechts und links lenken. Mit den Triggern stellt Auk nur einige Federn an der jeweiligen Flügelspitze um und lenkt damit langsam und präzise, mit X schlägt man mit den Flügeln. Die Schultertasten verschieben die mit dem rechten Stick frei bewegbare Kamera mit einem Druck hinter Auk. Die Grafik ist im schlichten, aber farbenprächtigen Polygonlook gehalten. Je nach Ort gibt es unterschiedliche Witterungsbedingungen, Flora, Fauna und Musik. Diese reicht von Dreampop bis Ambient und wird rhythmischer, wenn man in den Flugmodus übergeht. Die Geschichte ist interessant und es gibt einige sehr schöne Texte zu lesen. Leider ist das Spiel, selbst mit dem Erkunden aller nicht zur Hauptaufgabe gehörenden Dinge viel zu kurz, um die Geschichte als ausreichend erzählt zu empfinden. !SPOILER ! Was ist denn nun Aer, (scheinbar eine Energiequelle), es ist identisch mit dem als blaue Punkte aufsteigenden Ra? Wo sind alle anderen Bewohner hin? Ein Prequel wäre toll.

beautiful, but can't save in temples

A beautiful little game. Flying around is great fun, which is a nice change of pace from the more usual games where flying is annoying and stressful (*cough* Spyro *cough*). The only really major flaw is that saving doesn't work inside the temples. Quit inside a temple or just leave it for whatever reason, and you lose all progress inside that temple. Definitely not worth the full price though. The game is quite short, with not a lot of variety.

A Heads-Up On the AER Soundtrack...

For the people who do/did enjoy this game, I just thought I'd throw out a heads-up that, even though the soundtrack isn't on GOG, for whatever reason, it is on Bandcamp for 7 SEK... which, come to find out is the equivalent of $0.75 USD ... after tax. Kind of a no-brainer. And I wasn't planning on giving my opinion on the game, since unlike everyone else on the planet, I have zero desire to do reviews plus, I'm not too far into the game, but fuck it, I'm here so... I "demoed" the game and bought it outright because a) It was $1.50, b) The flight kinda reminded me of the general physics that the old Star Fox for SNES had, and c) It's basically my new meditative escape from, another game with floating islands, Furi, a game which has been handing me my ass over and over and over yet again. AER's controls are playing well with me, using an XBOX gamepad and having tried the m+k setup (even if the jump is just a hair off... loose kinda, but still fine,) the story seems slow but serviceable so far, and the physics are fully enjoyable. I deducted a star because in an open world like this and with islands of all sizes everywhere, it seems criminal to populate them with as little as they did; more interactive sites and characters would have filled out the world nicely in my less-than-humble opinion. I'd say that the deducted star was also for the lack of voice acting, but honestly, even if they'd nailed the voice work, it may have been out of place in a game that's this serene. AER is basic as hell in just about every sense possible, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it certainly doesn't make it a bad game overall, it just feels like there's a lot of wasted potential. (Also, concerning one person's complaint about the sensitivity of the controls, there's literally four sensitivity sliders that you can adjust in the Settings section.)
