Beat game, very disappointed.

Don't let all those glowing, high, and positive reviews fool you. What this game is in a nutshell: It is just battle after battle to you beat it. That's it, no depth, no soul, no charm, no replay. My dislikes/cons: No lore, no cities, no story, no plot, no shops, no interaction with npcs. No items of any kind besides the 4 accessory types. Game is far too short, game ends in mini-cliff hanger. Finite experience points, moot point as you will hit max level long before end game. Puzzles! For how much this game doesn't have makes its high price point a big rip-off. Good points: Battles are pretty varied and decent amount of tactics. Pretty good looking game. Unique characters. Try it for yourself if you don't believe me, waste your money. Go with other better games, like the much bigger Dragon Age: Origins. Ps. This is my first review on gog, which I own over 350 gog games, I just had to voice my disappointment as a gamer with 25+ years of gaming.

Strategy Diamond

I can't remember last time I played a game with such tasty combat. There are tons of options and every little decision matters. It's a micromanagers dream. Skills are very diverse and you are free to creatively come up with combos, in fact you have to or the enemies will kick your ass. They all have their own unique traits and some very deadly abilities. Game is hard in the most satisfactory way. Try to bash through the enemy resistance and you will be locked down in no time, but once you learn their weaknesses some adversarial gonads will be hurting. Every character come with their unique skill tree and you can rebuild it any time you like. It's brilliant. Combined with your ability to choose which 4 of the 8 characters to bring you can try all kinds of interesting builds. Between fights there are some puzzles. I quite liked them. Nothing too hard but leaves you feeling clever and they're always logical. Story kept me engaged, albeit some voice work is terribly over acted. I'd say you might be disappointed if you're expecting a fleshed out rpg. 100% focus is on gameplay. There are no side quests or lore to get lost in, no grinding, no backtracking. It's a game for strategy enthusiasts who want streamlined thinking man's action. It's a game for people who thrive on grim opposition and squeel a little when they finally figure out the perfect response and fire off 7 deadly spells in perfect harmony.

This game is not an cRPG!

Before purchase i read all the reviews and all the reviews are true even the one with only one star. The fact is that a lot of users bought this game thinking was a CRPG like Planetscape or Baldur's Gate, but is not this is "only" a tactical turn-based game. This game has no interactions with npc, a very simple story, few personalization and no side-quest. The only one thing to do is slain monsters, but the combat system is really good and the difficulty level is high, for sure, but you can save in any moment and the fight are, maybe, too much but the duration is slow. For me is a good game that lack only in characters equipment, but if you are in searching of a real RPG this is the wrong title without doubts.

AARKLASH: LEGACY

I have seldom enjoyed a games fighting mechanics as well as I have this game. It is simple, yet strategic at the same time. For a modern R PG this game really brings back feelings of the classics gone by. I would say if you like action and strategy combined, this game is for you. Not a lot of depth to the story, but it does the job. Good graphics and effects without taking up 20 gigs of hard drive. One of my favorite games this year.

Decently solid.

I'm surprised to see so many scathing reviews because the game has "nothing more" to offer than combat.. Grimrock 2, anyone? You could argue that the numerous battles which, to be fair to the developers, are really fairly varied and challenging, are similar in a sense to puzzling things out. I mean, I might as well say Grimrock is just puzzle after puzzle; "no shops, no real story, no ities, no lore, no interaction with npcs", to quote the current top review.. But somehow doesn't deserve one star because of it. The absurd hyperbole in gaming reviews is what makes them generally worthless in this day and age - being overly critical and cynical about games does not help. Aarklash is what it is a - game focused around unique characters with their own unique sets of skills engaging in numerous fairly varied and challenging battles. Aarklash is a game that thrives on its fairly complex and challenging combat. If you came into it expecting something else then you may well be disappointed - what it does it seems to do pretty well. It honestly wasn't even my super cup of tea, but all in all, it was a pretty solid game! I just had to drop my two cents because of the numerous reviews that give Aarklash so much of a thrashing for the very things touted in other games - reviews need to be relatively objective to be useful folks, try to be reasonable.
