nice short game with replayablilty
great game that if you fail or succede in the game you earn tokens that can be used for your next run to improve your stats, gear and get some ealry money out of it, i wish there was more games like this out there

Fine immersion from a rare perspective
I thoroughly enjoyed the game for a variety of reasons: * wonderfully detailed story-telling: if you ever wondered how a poor little soldier feels, when he is running toward the high walls of a city - this game will let you dive into the experience * game perspective: you are just a little soldier, which is just flowing in the stream of history (i.e. you will not be in the position for changing the historical events) * the story is a lively and historically accurate presentation of the struggles of Rome (or its soldiers) during the Second Punic War and the First Macedonian War * well-dosed amount of empathy spread along the story (i.e. you are not a psychopath who is slaying loads of savages, but you are soldier struggling with other humans) * loads of small event chains improve the immersion * your fights are slow paced and turn based, but still an engaging source of pleasure: dancing between hope, fear with a good load of urgency or sometimes just anxiously hoping for the battle around you to be resolved in your favor But there could be reasons, why someone could dislike the game: * the visuals are "retro" (think of the late 90s) * permadeath: you will need to walk through the first part of the game repetitively (for me it took around 40 attempts) - for me (being a patient person) it was well acceptable * the activities *between* the major battles are a bit repetitive, but they are interleaved with small events for keeping you busy (or killing you) and they do not consume too much time

not-so-random RNG, otherwise great
Amazing game, great story, for £6 it is an absolute steal. I am amazingly entertained. BUT somotimes RNG kills all the fun, you routinely fail what game tells you should be 75 - 80% chance of sucess, sometimes several times in a row. You spend long time building a nice character, training him up, buying him equipment and so on. And then you get into a fight, and it often feels mostly pontless.... Some enemies seem by default immune to certain actions, regardles of your stats, equipment and odds of sucess suggetsed by the game. It often feels that unless you do specific things in sepcific order you will have no chance at all. It really breakes immersion, you do not feel in control of your character at all and makes you think your decisions and actions up to this point and during the encounter had no impact at all. Overall and outsanding game, I wish I could rate it better.

Charming little game
Simple, but does a lot with what it has. Reading and RNG heavy, but that's part of the fun.
