I love this game, however i refuse to buy it from the S-E store, it's loaded with DRM and after 30 days have passed on your purchase YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD THE GAME AGAIN, once 30 days has passed if you need to download it again then you need to buy the game again. It's a bloody scam.

On the US Square Enix site, I just created an account and was able to successfully purchase FFVII for myself for only $7 USD.
I am literally downloading the game as we speak.
PS, I'm in Ontario, Canada.
I can't see Square ever giving up a cash cow like the FF series for companies like GoG to release to us.
As is, the cost I just paid was very reasonable.

played the FF7 demo on a christmas pc gamer uk disc.. was it '97..'98? It was yellow with dark stripes on it (bonus disc).
The intro arpeggios in that prelude theme song always gets me :S

Apropos of nothing, from what I remember, it had a better translation (by Eidos?) than the PS version, which is what is available on the Playstation store. Could be my memories playing tricks on me - I lost all the CDs but the installation disk somewhere :)

That being said it isn't getting much exposure on the Square Store because most people don't even know it is there.

Not my most favourite jRPG of all time by any means, but it deserves a place here. Upvoting.

Uhm dude... I ownd FF7 for the PC... trust me it is *not* worth it... the game was just outright horrible on PC, glitchy as hell, bugged to the outer dimensions and the menu system was horrid (mostly because it ignored the fact that PC's have a little thing called a Mouse). I actually count that as one of the most disappointing purchases ever.

That said.. if they actually fixed all those issues...then it'd be a pretty sweet game. Seriously, glitching or crashing out mid battle or on the world map, or on entering a town... not cool for an RPG game.

FF VII is not available in all regions. I find it odd I can't purchase the PC version in Canada from SQUARE. I'd rather see it on GOG and let them have my money.

you can still find ff7 and ff8 in stores if you are lucky, so I doubt this is gonna happen on gog

I absolutely agree with people who call Final Fantasy VII a masterpiece. Now, after the re-release for this game, a launch on gog should be great. And it would be also kindly when gog would inform us in case of Square Enix don't agree with such a release for the game. Is there still any possibility to get feedback or messages how far or possible gog-launches for each game are? I mean, every wish could be fullfilled or not. But when not, can we get any message or something, that the publisher or owner closes himself for such a deal? Or even a message if there are actions in the background to bring this game for gog right at the time like a status-sign or something like that?

I agree with MasterMegid, this game is RIDICULOUSLY overrated, there are so many games in this wishlist that are amazing titles, so much more deserving than this pitiful excuse for an RPG. If you really want to relive your weeaboo wet dreams there is plenty of pictures of Cloud bumming Sephiroth out there. Also Square would never allow their products to go DRM free.

This game would also be great. Best thing would be, if the could use the optimized 3D-models and sounds, that the community built. But since this didn't happend before I'll be o.k. with the original version. I take what I can get to preserve my CD version. :-)

MasterMegid: Different genres, different style, yet all you mention unique in their own. Each and every game you mentioned all 3 i have on a cd-disk. I even have Torment and Fallout(1-2 tacticst) as boxed versions. Yet i would really love if they would make this game available. Probably the two most hardest games to get back, if something happened to your own copies, are: FFVII and Omikron....both were out in the stores around the same time around 1999, yet they were true masterpieces, stories, large number of npc-s with depth.(Even though they are a bit linear, their stories are so marvellous and fascinating that i have restarted each game numerous times, yet i could only finish FFVII once, before my cd went bad, and Omikron sadly never...) Also this is a wishlist, what else we would like to see:) And this is a defo i would love to see:D

It would be really great, if this game would end up here. But I think the chances are really low, since Square-Enix released the game on their own. They won't "give" it to GOG. Unfortunately. I did not buy the new version, in my eyes the new features are ridiculous. Achievments? Cheat-mode? Come on!

Hey, MasterMegid... It's not "overrated trash" to people who love it! Not all JRPGs are created equal: This is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, up there WITH Arcanum, PS: Torment, and others, for a lot of reasons. If you played it and didn't like it, that's just fine--but if Square-Enix refuses to listen to the overwhelming clamoring of their dwindling consumer base and remake this game with enhanced graphics for modern systems, you can bet your booty I'd snatch up a GOG carryover in half a heartbeat. <3

Apparently this new version uses SecuROM DRM with the BS activation limits and everything - stuff I thought PC game publishers (Square Enix included) has stopped using in favor of Steam. Sigh...

Seldom has a re-released game been such an argument for this site. What Square Enix does to its once glorious product, DRM-wise, is an utter and complete disgrace, embarrassing to the company to the core. This is a 15 year old game. It should be playable without the utmost hassle.
