Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark - Missions and Monsters
Description

This bundle includes the base game: Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark and Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark - Missions and Monsters DLC.

Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark

Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark is a story-driven, turn-based tactical RPG set in a fantasy world with a touch of steampunk. Take control of the Arbiter Kyrie, an agent of the Immortal Council tasked with preserving stability and order throughout the land, and lead your troops through difficult encounters.

  • Experience an epic and mature story, unfolding through over 40 story encounters and topped with challenging end-game content.
  • Classic tactical combat battles, with rugged terrain and elevation, taking place on beautiful hand-drawn environments.
  • A deep and complex class system with over 30 classes and 300 abilities lets you truly customize every one of your characters through the selection of their class, sub-class and passives. Carefully craft the character you envision, be it a versatile generalist, a dedicated spell-caster or a mighty foe-crushing specialist!
  • Customize your troops' appearance your way, by selecting their portrait, outfit, colors and overall visuals from a wide selection.
  • Equip your army with over 240 pieces of equipment, either purchased, gathered from fallen enemies or created from crafting.

Centuries ago, a brutal beast of destruction rent the world asunder. In this time of need, the first Immortals came into their uncanny powers, powers so great that they succeeded in destroying the beast ravaging the land, where all else had failed.

To prevent such destruction from ever happening again, the Immortals banded together to form a Council that would enforce order and stability on a global scale, stepping in at any hint of war or chaos.

The Immortals might be vastly powerful, but they are few. Even they can't oversee all of the lands. This is why they rely upon their mortal agents, the Arbiters, to guard the land's people from the more day-to-day dangers they face. Arbiters range over the land, rooting out bandits, unruly monsters, and crooked officials; their word is law.

But one Arbiter uncovers the deepening corruption pervading her own order, and it falls to her to halt the spread of a threat as dire as the brutal beast of yore.

Strongly influenced by games such as Final Fantasy Tactics (original and Advance versions) and Tactics Ogre, this tactical RPG stands on its own as a worthy successor of those classics, bringing a slew of improvements and additions to the tactics genre.

How is This Game Not Hugely Popular?

This is easily one of the best games of the tactics genre I have ever played, and certainly the best on PC. The style and graphics are impressive. Gameplay and character creation are extremely deep and customizable, respectively. In terms of quality, I have rarely come across an indie title that is so polished. I've never encountered a bug or crash, the controls and UI are simply intuitive, and the system requirements are impressively low considering how good it looks. Furthermore, I've tried it on every PC I own, Windows, Linux, low res, 4k, and it always runs perfectly without any issue. This is incredibly rare. I find myself in awe and wondering just how a game like this doesn't seem to have a huge fanbase. Maybe it does on some secret Discord channel idk. Well done, devs! Bravo!

Does justice to it's legacy

I compared this to Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics as I played, and Fell Seal stands on its own just fine in most ways. I have to admit, at first I was turned off by the graphics, which don't hold up well in a few places, but within a couple hours I was hooked on the very fun gameplay loop of kicking ass and upgrading your squad. - There are several ways to upgrade, but none of them feel like fluff and I found them intuitive and fun to get in to. The game is paced well in rationing out these mechanics, and there are a few instances where the game rewards creative thinking about it's mechanics, which I like. - I LOVE what the devs did with monsters in this game. You could have a squad of 5 of the same monster, and find ways to upgrade them all to feel distinct. The human classes and "blue mage" unit are great as well, I have just been consistently dissapointed by how games like this treat monsters in the past, and they nailed it here. - On that note, the ability to customize the appearance of most units was something that I didn't know I needed. I found myself coming up with backstories for these as I played. If you like a high level of narrative and mechanical customization for your squad, you will like how Fell Seal handles these things. -The two less than stellar things I would note are the story and the music. The story was serviceable, I don't gripe about it, but I did find it predictable in places. Maybe that's just me. It was a fine vessel for the gameplay to be poured into. Unfortunately, I turned off the music a few hours into the game and just listened to something else. It wasn't horrible, it just didn't grab me much at all. -I hope that the devs make a sequel, and fully anticipate that it will be excellent if they build on what they have established here. Playtime: 110+ hours, but I completed all the secret stuff

Honestly one of the best FFT-like games

This game is fantastic i have put an unholy amount of hours into this game with features improving on the FFT formula such as new game+ and mod support and character customization. in addition the customization isn't wasted since custom units have unique classes as well giving them a reason to be used unlike FFT's habit of only the named story units having any reason to exist. if you were a fan of the final fantasy tactics games this game is a must play taking all the good aspects and improving on it however i will say the dlc is heavily recommended to have a complete feeling experience

Waste of Energy

Yet another annoying f'ing game that can't relay information to the player. I've finally had it 30 hours in. I should know why I'm missing attacks by now. I should know why I'm healing them with my attacks. 10 minutes into a battle, you have rez'd your teammates 5 times and they are all at full health. There's treasure chests on the tiles. Literally every f'ing time I've walked over to a treasure chest, I can't make the final step. I finally have jet boots, which gives you 40 tile vertical, but I still can't get to these treasure chests. The UI is one of the worst I've ever used, complete cluster f everywhere you go. It's like they added new layers of UI on top instead of integrating into previous layers. For example, you gain Ability Points (AP) by doing missions and battles. You have a primary class and a secondary class. Most of your AP goes to your primary, so when you're mastered, you need to switch your primary to maximize your AP. (WHY) The process of switching your class isn't too much, but then you have to switch your secondary. Then you have to switch your equipment. Imagine FF6 and constantly going back and forth on menus like that. To switch primary/secondary/equipment probably takes 5 minutes, 5 minutes of pure hell that will give you a headache. Did I mention yet that you have a squad of about 30, even early into the game? I guess I got my money's worth because I have quite a few hours played, but they weren't very satisfying. The dialogue is cringe and basic. The plot is as well. If the combat was great, all could be forgiven, but it's not. It does have a nice gameplay loop, but it's too convoluted to be fun. Now I understand why there's so little information/buzz about this game. The best thing is the soundtrack, which of course isn't available on gog.
